My dad was in the army during desert storm and I played this the day before he had to take off for Disney a couple weeks back on my jbl speaker on full blast. The speed my old man showed was almost superhuman the way he shot up out of bed scrambling to get his corners at ninety degrees and was looking for his combat boots for a good 15 seconds before he realized all that shit was 30 years ago. He then took my shoulder in one hand and slammed me up against the wall and screamed,” DON’T YOU EVER DARE TO DO THAT AGAIN YOU HEAR ME?!?!” Little did I know he still has PTSD from his past.

I played this for my dad on Veterans Day, and he went to stand up, realized I played it looked at me and when back to sleep. BACKSTORY BEHIND HIS SERVICE: My dad was in a Marine Mortar Platoon and so the VA offered him Hearing Aids due to his consistent trouble hearing my family. My dad was there for Blackhawk Down in Somalia. He's been in the Second Persian Gulf War and Afghanistan as well. He was lucky he made it out. He then joined the Airforce, his job was to order parts for the C-130s (he was on a reservist base so they only had those planes, nothing else). He retired in 2019 and his glory inspires me to join the United States Army when I am old enough. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY. THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING THE LIVES OF MILLIONS, WE APPRECIATE IT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

I remember back in high school I was a band kid and I played trumpet. Our class was right before lunch and as band students we can eat in the band room, so long as we didn’t leave a mess. One time I finished early and was organizing my sheet music and I went to get a new copy of a piece that was well worn, and I found the sheet music for Reveille. Asked my director about it and he said he has a few copies of it; he’s retired army, never knew exactly why he has ‘em but that’s his business and I didn’t ask. So I borrowed it, and returned the copy after a few days. It’s been so many years since I last played, I wonder if I can still play the notes correctly. Don’t think I played it well back then but I’m pretty sure I confused my neighbors.

Oh lord this takes me back when I was still in highschool, I did NJROTC all 4 years, and my dad having been in the Army in the 80's and he grew up as a navy brat, and having done NJROTC all for years like myself was sadistic bastard, if he even suspected me having gone to bed late would barge into my room at 0500!, cause my bus ran at like 0530 and play Reveille on his trumpet from when he was in band in highschool as well, (yeah how he managed band and JROTC in highschool is still beyond me) and then cap it off with a drill sergeant tone and volume say "Rise n Shine!! Reveille! Drop Your Cocks and Grab Your Socks!! Get Your Ass In Gear!" not bad for a Army PFC, though he was a 1st Lt. in the state militia in the 90's after his stint in the Army. point is, he always made damn sure I never missed the bus.
