It’s pronounced REH-vel. As to revel in the mirth and joy music brings to you. Probably the best engineered speaker brand in the world. No B.S. like megabuck speakers, just a massive amount of measurement, testing, and listening coupled with Harman’s huge R&D budget. The top of the line Revel, the Salon2, at $20,000 is by no means cheap, but it is the best measuring speaker in the world, and has been for over 10 years.

I think it's quite important to point out when doing speaker review's that a speaker that sounds great in your room might not necessarily sound as good in another persons room. Hi try changing your speaker wires round so the amp left channel is driving the right speaker. That will at least let you know if it's the speaker. If it's the speaker I'd first check all the screws holding the drivers and treminals are tight. If its not the speaker check your amp for dc offset at the speaker terminals.

@@r423sdex Because I watched his video on the upgrade. I never said Harmon/Revel dont know how to make a speaker. Now days if one has the know how you can upgrade anything, that does not mean that the original product wasnt good to begin with but if you have the means to make it even better then so be it but I am not putting down the revel speaker. It seems you are being defensive. Even Ron said the treble was rolled off a bit which is why I mentioned Gr.Research's upgrade video of that revel speaker as his measurements showed it being slightly rolled off at the top end which is facts as the measurements dont lie. The ironic part is that every speaker manufacturer thats been in business for a while will ALWAYS upgrade there own products over time. Unless you are saying that only Harmon knows how to upgrade there own products and no one else knows how to upgrade it?

Are you sure that high hat is real? Sounds like it's synthetic via the KZbin recording. It's "spitty" because it's made using white noise and a high pass filter among other things. It can sound somewhat similar to a live high hat, but I'm not getting that impression from the timing either...seems too robotic to be real.

@@Newrecordday2013 A digitally created high hat provides "relative" value for comparison as you implied, but it actually matters A LOT for ABSOLUTE value. When you have real life high hat to benchmark, you can decide which is truly accurate. Nobody knows how the synthetic high hat was mixed, or what they thought was "close enough". Thus, it can seriously mislead someone into thinking a speaker is better/worse than it really is. I think you noticed it yourself when you mentioned "it was recorded poorly". It actually wasn't recorded in the traditional sense. It was CREATED, so perhaps other speakers were actually more accurate in showing that it's made of white noise and high pass filters, whereas a speaker that makes it sound better is actually less accurate. Follow?
@Newrecordday2013
@Newrecordday2013 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, makes sense. I am not sure if the high hat is real or not. If it is real, it could be brick walled and compressed that gives it a spitting effect. Now that I think about it, probably most of these clips are probably samples. Who knows if it’s real or not, but for my comparisons, I think they work fine. Thanks for the comment!

However, I have come to realize that Ron honestly posts his impressions of gear and is very entertaining and “chill,” even if he gets some technical details incorrect-the same issue that also besets Sean Fowler and Steve Guttenberg. Ouch 7k smackeroos . With this sound signature I would not pair them with a SS McIntosh might be a doubling down on smooth and midbass which may be too much of a good thing IMO

Not too bad, if you're into restricted speakers and don't mind having to integrate subs and all. When will see a review of the world-beater Revels, like F208 and F328Be? Revel hasn't been able to best the F208 in ABX testing since it came out 12 years ago, that says something. ASR's reviewers have had the F208 on their unrestricted speaker list over $10K for years and it's still one of their top 5 speakers at $20K level. F328Be bests the Salon by Revel's own account. Keep up the great work you have the best channel on YT brother.

Actually a very honest even if politically correct review of this speaker. It's almost as those who consider themselves "real" audiophiles can't bear to criticize Revel speakers but these are just about as disappointing as a $7000 speaker can be and this is from several in person listening sessions at a couple of different stores where the salesmen just couldn't wait to show me the brilliance of Revel products and beryllium tweeters. They do detail without harshness but bass, while accurate is unrealistically understated. Just a weak and lifeless presentation. If you need to feel moved by the performance of a speaker then these will not be your choice. The lowered priced aluminum tweeter version with the larger woofers were actually significantly better because the better integrated bass gave them a presence these beryllium models couldn't touch while the mid and top end were indistinguishable from each other. The sister speakers from Harmon, the JBL HDI, sounded better. I criticized a pair of Monitor Audio speakers with the ribbon tweeter that the salesman just raved about because the highs were so pristine, and he was right. Too pristine. As in unrealistically polished and perfect. Revels have the same type of presentation just without the boosted HF response.

Love this binaural sound demo of the Revel F226Be. These things are.... smooooooth and easy to listen to. Revel doesn't seem to disappoint when it comes to mid-tones and vocals. ........but....... One thing I didn't expect from these speakers, and this goes back to your shoot-out demo a couple of weeks ago - the bass bloom and lack of texture. This video just verifies what I heard in the first video. While you can blame some of it on your room acoustics, there are other speakers we've heard in the same room that exhibits much less bass bloom, and far more bass/mid-bass texture. And because of that, these seem to lack a bit of clarity and detail. ...or that mid to upper end clarity is covered up/over-powered by the lower-end blooming. I have to say, based on this demo, and not having these speakers set up in my own home, I really prefer my $900/pair Revel Concerta2 M16 bookshelf speakers. The mid-tones are there, and I can hear so much more detail and clarity through the frequency range, including much more mid-bass texture. ...And this is with a bit of a bass bump on the bottom end of the M16. Being that they're smaller 2-way speakers, that little bump doesn't make bass over-powering. Taking it one step further, those M16 speakers paired with my REL HT1003, where you can tailor the lower frequencies to your own liking, it really rounds out the sound without losing clarity and detail. ...and the little Revel M16 bookshelf speakers can absolutely become holographic with the right speaker placement. For less than $1,500 (with the REL HT1003 sub), it kind of blows me away how much more I prefer my set-up over the $7,000 M226Be floor standers. I never expected this... Would be interesting to see if I'd feel the same way if I had the F226Be in my listening space. Also makes me wonder if the Revel PerformaBe M126Be bookshelf speakers would offer much more detail, clarity and texture without the bloom. Basically - much better balance...especially when paired with a good subwoofer to round out the bottom end. ...as always, your demos are the best on KZbin.

I would hope any speaker in your home stereo would sound better than a recording on yt of a mic'd speaker.

@@rockmusicvideoreviewer896 - you would hope. Depends on the speakers and room. You’d be surprised how many good systems have poor speaker placement or they’re simply too big for the room. That out of the way, you can get a damn good idea how the speakers will sound with a good YT recording/presentation. Certainly good enough to decide whether you want to audition them in your own home.

@@craigjohnchronicles2504 I disagree. It is impossible to get any idea. You are always going to end up listening to your speakers of an inferior recording of a recording you would normally play, such as on your CD or vinyl.
