Revelation 9:1-21 (King James Version)
1And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
5And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
6And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
7And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
8And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
10And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
11And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
12One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
13And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
If you have read or heard classic "deeper life" Christian authors and/or preachers, i.e. Watchman Nee, Andrew Murray, A.B. Simpson, Leonard Ravenhill, then you will quite likely find this sermon by A.W. Tozer very edifying. May you be blessed.
Hailing from a tiny farming community in western Pennsylvania, his conversion was as a teenager in Akron, Ohio. While on his way home from work at a tire company, he overheard a street preacher say: "If you don't know how to be saved... just call on God." Upon returning home, he climbed into the attic and heeded the preachers advice.
In 1919, five years after his conversion, and without formal theological training, Tozer accepted an offer to pastor his first church. This began 44 years of ministry, associated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), a Protestant evangelical denomination; 33 of those years were served as a pastor in a number of churches. His first pastorate was in a small storefront church in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. Tozer also served as pastor for 30 years at Southside Alliance Church, in Chicago (1928 to 1959), and the final years of his life were spent as pastor of Avenue Road Church, in Toronto, Canada. In observing contemporary Christian living, he felt that the church was on a dangerous course toward compromising with "worldly" concerns.

Not only his theology, but there is something about his voice I adore. I feel as though I should be sitting in an old school building or the like, listening to a wonderful man preach the glory of Christ. I am just getting in to Tozer and I greatly appreciate you sharing the sermon.

He is absolutely correct about spiritism. It is so prevalent nowadays. People know in their heart we are spiritual beings, but denying Christ they are left to their own imaginings. So, they chant and sit cross legged and use praying hands as if they are doing something. There is no answer within ourselves. No amount of chanting or praying hands can forgive sin. Christ alone provides life, the Holy Spirit is where we turn for guidance. Grace and peace from the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

He is truly a holy prophet. The rise of spiritistism has been immense in this century. I have seen so many people in San Francisco under the spell of the spirits, for they use them for witchcraft. At times, I have had their unclean spirits attack me and even speak to me. One spirit said to me through a possessed person that, "The Church has been infiltrated." Yes, the church has been infiltrated with "priests" who are not priests but actually sorcerers for whom I have also received attacks from and driven out of churches. The demons and fallen angels do not like the Holy Spirit. My life has been utterly difficult the past four years due to being attacked constantly. Please pray for me.

Hard to believe living a life away from MY LORD. I was walking dead at one time now I'm living a life with the Holy Spirit and JESUS CHRIST and GOD THE FATHER. The Holy Spirit spoke to me in my back yard in September 2007,He told me to remember Hohriver as it was, because it will never be the same, I just kinda laughed and said just don't take my Elk Hunting away. Needless to say, the next winter our hatchery steelhead caught a virus, and totally animated that run of fish, the next spring America signed a agreement with Canada, giving Canada more troll caught spring, summer king salmon in exchange for sockeye in the straights of Juan defuca, which also anilated our summer salmon in the hohriver, neither run of fish has since rebounded. I'm a commercial fisherman, also I was having dreams of being on a highway just wanting to 9home, had a yearning in my Heart to return home. As it would happen, I was in a very bad car accident in August 2008,3 months in the hospital, 3 months in a nursing home, almost dead, they operating on my wrist, then those dreams came true, almost lost my life, on top of that barley saved my hand, I just wanted to go home, was down to 87 lbs from 190, I'm at the moment in community college , and have since been visited again by the Holy Spirit, and have been justified, sanctified and blessed from JESUS CHRIST, Today I'm so grateful, blessed and so aware of God, Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit, and such a greater quality of life, I can't be grateful enough for JESUS CHRIST AND HIS INEXPRESSIBLE GRACE, AND GIFTS HE HAS GIVEN ME , TODAY I'M OF SERVICE TO FELLOW CITIZENS, AND FEEL CIVILIZED AS A MAN OF GOD. GOD BLESS YOU ALL

I like the point being driven home that the world is spiritual. This explains why the world cannot understand or accept the things of God. While I am no one in particular, I do thank God for His Spirit which has opened my eyes to His reality. It would be nice if everyone could receive this gift, but I suppose it is on each of us to at the very least have the desire towards the things of God….which most don’t. Again, thank God because without His unmerited favor, I would most certainly be lost.

Now I'm beginning to understand why my brother thinks everything is 'spiritual". I ask him what he means, and he says, "It's a lesson" but he can't tell me what lesson because it is spiritual. ??? I'm sure Mr. Tozer was a good Christian, but he failed to study. When the angels at the Euphrates let loose then came the rise of the Ottoman Empire. The later in the 6th vial the Euphrates is dried up which happened when General Allenby captured Jerusalem, in 1917, from the Turks ending their Empire. The creatures like scorpions and locust and such is the rise of Islam. All this is taught by the Christian fathers from centuries ago. Now Christians teach fanciful stuff like space invaders and great monsters from the pit, etc. I have learned from good teachers who have learned from other good teachers which go back hundreds and back to the Apostles. Go and learn some Truth in History. We cannot understand The Revelation of Jesus Christ without looking at the scriptures and history. "You will know when these things come to pass." Antichrist was identified by the scriptures and history. "They went out from us because they were not of us." This teaches us that the antichrist came out of the Church and set himself up and they knew it would be a Latin man. The antichrist is the Papacy and we have no doubt about that. The problem is Christians today teach Papal Doctrines which are not of God such as Futurism which is a false interpretation of The Revelation of Jesus Chris and His power.

Oh, if only Churches would preach and teach like this instead of seeking pew warmers with a watered-down Gospel. Telling folk what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear.🙏🏾🥲✝️
