Dented my body up, weathered it, cracked the glass (all using methods you have show) and put a stepside painted in the furthest thing from a matching color on mine. Looks very good.

Im building this kit now. Nice tires in a kit for a change. The bad thing, they are directional like real tires, but they are all made the same. The beads on the tires are thin on one side and thick on the other, making the rims fit a little tricky on 2 of them to make matching pairs.

@@hpiguy did you have trouble with the tires? They didn't hold the rim very well, I thought. Otherwise a nice kit. Just disappointed with the rubber.
@justinmyslive41085 жыл бұрын
I used to have a similar kit when I was a teenager. It was a Chevy stepside 4X4. The interior was identical to your kit. I've noticed it's a three speed in the column. As far as I know GM never put a three in a tree in the 4 wheel drives so what I did with mine was bent the column shifter to where the shit handle was visible over the dashboard looking at it from the front and snapped off the clutch pedal then filed it down to simulate an automatic. I also made it a "work in progress" truck and painted the front fenders and the stepsides a matte black like something a high school kid bought with his own money and fixing it up as he goes along

Now you'll have to add the rust holes from all that mud you're getting under the fenders and box. It looks good, though. Since I have a full size 'GMC '78 long box 3'4 ton, I built an earlier, Monogram, copy of that kit. I lengthened the frame and used a resin cast long box on mine. My main problem was in trying to match the two tone yellow and cream paint job on my real truck.

How do you get the tires to direction? mine came with only left side tires they can only go together one way from what i see? The wheels go to the thin walled side and back of wheels fit in the back thick insets about 3/16 inset. Great model im loving it
@hpiguy4 жыл бұрын
I talk about how I fit the tires in this review.
@mgilmer614 жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy I have watched 4 times and do not see how, I got all left side tires? The back peace goes in where the inset is to hold in place, the wheels go to the thin wall of tire i got that. but no matter what tires i put where the right side is backwards? I would have to put 2 wheels on the side the backs pieces go in to be directional , Can you tell me what minute marker has the way you corrected this? Wish i could show you a video of what im talking about
@IamGalvatron4 жыл бұрын
g man you have to cut out the inner part of the tires like the instructions say to. The kit does only supply driver side tires though that why removing the inner part is necessary. The passenger sides won’t be perfect on the rim but will be serviceable. I put a bead of super glue on the back side to help hold the tires on the rims.

GREAT JOB on the mud truck. Looks true to fashion. That's the kind of model you take outside into the low brush and take photos; people would have a hard time discerning model or real thing. You truly amaze me at your mad skillz!!! One criticism, you already corrected: when you showed the out of the box, pre mud version, the roughing up of the tires looked off because the water channels looked fresh and brand new while the traction tread was roughed up. I'm anal though. As I said before....final model was a true work of art. I tried watching another modeler and in the first five minutes he was saying "other modelers do it this way, explaining what the parts are...I'm not going to do that." What the heck man! He lost me! Don't slam other modelers. I like you because you only worry about you, and maybe us, lol! Again, two thumbs up

Really my first car was a carmine red and frost gloss white 74 chevy Cheyenne super c10 long bed roller... I originally bought with my own money a very nice example of a 83 Buick Regal Limited factory metallic brown and beautiful chocolate brown pillow top limited interior pkg but blown up Buick 231v6 had a fix for that but my cousin acquired a 84 black Buick Regal Limited factory red pinstripe and burgundy interior a a factory 305quadrajet 4bbl sbc th350c and the estate sale paperwork ugh no title so he really wanted to use the regal limited I had and we worked on a few deals on the drivetrain and the truck his dad my uncle actually had but that is awesome to hear that you had a 74 chevy c10!! If I was you if yours was a long bed I'd either try to acquire the original 4 monogram 78 Chevy k10 monster trucks or the 3 reissue ones, but if you look online you will run across two versions of the long bed square body box if that is what you need.. I know that because I was looking into building a Fall Guy truck the right way with the mpc blue truck on the box 84 GMC Sierra k1500 short box

I like to use Rust-Oleum for base colors as well. Great coverage and, honestly, a better price than hobby paint. What primer do you use? I use the R-O primer as well, but hit the styrene with a bunch of super light coats so it doesn't melt or distort then when I spray the color I can go a bit heavier. Just found your channel - pretty cool stuff!

This model lacks one vital detail: The hood must be bent sharply at the hinges. Every 70's and 80's GM truck did this because the hinge springs were too stiff and GM never fixed it.
@hpiguy4 жыл бұрын
LOL, never saw one like that personally and they were all over up here but it would be a cool idea for a beat up truck look.
@seanhazelwood33114 жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy I honestly never saw one that didn't, but replacement hoods were so cheap that people didnt care...we didn't even get mad. It may have depended on which truck plant it rolled out of, tbh. I'm in TN, I don't know which plant sold to which area. I'll send a pic if I can. The hood folded straight across right in front of the hinge plate, same spot every time.
