A tutorial on the assembly and painting of this model would be invaluable for modelers. I have this model in queue, but as I am dedicated to armored vehicles that use other techniques, I have been waiting to find guidance to achieve something like this.

You said the wheels were a little quirky, I agree. You can order some moebius wheels that will fit and look perfect for that truck and the Kenworth aerodyne also. I love the color and the way you did the decals. You can use duplicolor primer paint and clear coat does an excellent realistic look for models also. Sharp truck.

Cummins came in tan white and red… very nice build

Thanks, Chris! Appreciate the info on the engine colors👍
@scudfarcus43432 ай бұрын
@@ericsmodelgarage There are two things about truck engine colors. 1) All Cummins engines were painted light tan from the factory up until some time in the late 70's or early 80's, I think, when the N14 was factory painted black, with others still being tan. I believe some time in the 90's, all Cummins were painted red from the factory. Also, I think some 903 series V8's were painted dark grey. All Caterpillar engines were painted yellow from the factory. All Detroits were painted light green from the factory except for some of the later 92 series two-strokes, which were painted silver. 2) Both Peterbilt and Kenworth repainted all engines white that were installed in their trucks from maybe sometime in the 60s until maybe early 80s? Then they left them factory colors. International painted all engines red that were installed in their trucks probably until some time around when they went bankrupt, then left them factory colors after that. All other truck brands left the engines in factory paint colors.

@@scudfarcus4343 Great info, thanks! That will help with future builds👍

@@ericsmodelgarage Thanks! I forgot to mention that your model is still accurate because often, when the engines were worn out, truck owners would install REMAN engines, which were factory remanufactured engines. These would have been painted tan, in the case of Cummins. So, your engine color is perfectly accurate.

I suppose you could order a custom color for your Cat engine but I only ever saw white and yellow, never tan. Peterbilt seemed to hang on to the white colored engines a bit longer than Kenworth and others that switched to yellow in the early to mid eighties.
