GIRL THANK YOU!!!! These tutorials are straight to the point but simple and easy to understand for a beginner like me who hears all these words being tossed around and nobody explains what they are and just kind of expect us to already know it. This is helping me with a project right now and I am so appreciative of this channel.

Reverb and Delay the very essence of ambient music. I dare say that it couldn't exist without them. It's very difficult to get effective resonating ambient sounds without employing one or the other. Nature uses them during lightning storms to enhance our space/time experiences. The rumble of thunder wouldn't sound as explosive without them; we stop to listen and are made more aware of the moment while we hear and feel those vibrations. Just like when they're used to good effect in music.

This is wonderful - thank you so much. One tiny thing -- I wish you had compared the same exact phrase with reverb vs with delay (as you did with the dry recording vs. reverb--that was incredibly helpful), rather than first reverb, and then the song continuing with delay. But still wonderfully described and exemplified!

I’ve always preferred vocals in their “dry” state and I am so glad to have found this explanation so I can pinpoint why modern music often irritates me. I respect editing, but I enjoy vocals so much more without it. It’s probably due to my classical training, cause the added reverb and delay to me sound like the musical equivalent of a bad photoshop job (this is just my personal opinion though!)

4:33 as with reverb you can control the delay effect in many different ways ¿ can one control a delay with a reverb? Please help me out!
@ruchashirwalkar74664 жыл бұрын
not really... yes but not- delay and reverb are two very different things... the thing is delay can be controlled easily for example you can have the echo once or if you want five times and also place the echos on timings (have the echo quickly play or have the echos take time and play slowly).... Reverb meanwhile can be "controlled" but its not controlled the same way delay is.... basically you can control how big/small the reverb you want - reveb does not made echos, it instead makes the sound more "open" or "airy".... I hope this helps you question :)
