This is called a reverb send. I use this trick all the time. It makes the reverb very bright.

@@tomik6537 What I said. I noticed a reverb send has for some reason a better high end response. Individual reverbs can clash with each other, making it not really sound like one room.

Here's an actual hack: Do what he did then add mid/side EQ and boost the side. This will make the reverb sound even wider. You can do the opposite as well. Adding the mid/side eq will give you an extra dimension of control over where the reverb sits. Of course when doing this kind of mid/side thing you should put a correlation meter at the end and check that you aren't pushing things too far.

Holy crap, I can't believe I have never thought of routing the send from within the drum rack to the regular return tracks! I always set 2 identical room reverb sends (one as a return track and one as return within the drum rack) because I don't want to send the whole group to the reverb! And breaking the rack into separate tracks just for mixing is sometimes a headache... Although I already use the tip you shown, this is a great workflow improve and CPU saver I have learned instead :D

Wow - I was under the impression that reverb sends for a drum rack had to be self-contained within the drum rack itself as a return chain. Didn't realize you could send it out to your master Sends. ... Probably should have figured this out earlier.

Thanks a lot. It blows my mind. But why overcomplicate the music production? Meanwhile we're wasting more time learning what a legion of cryptical software buttons COULD do, than producing good music, peoöle enjoy (and buy!) I've been succesfully producing electronic music for the last 30 years without (the NEED to know) all that shebang. Hardware sequencer and a 4 track recorder that ist. All, people care for, is: melody, lyrics and groove.

Depends on the genre, what frequencies you're using in the reverb (hence low cuts) and how much you're using. A lot of techno uses it for that 'big room' feel, for example. I used to never do it because I was told not to and massively regret listening to them. There are a lot of weird "rules" that are wrong, don't apply to everything, are only necessary with old equipment or only apply in the analogue domain... Old myths, essentially.

When do you recommend having reverb on 100% dry?
@darzebmusic1984
@darzebmusic1984 Жыл бұрын
When you put reverb in a return channel, otherwise you will duplicate the original signal. When you use reverb in the insert channel you have to find right amount of dry/wet
@haraldbackfisch1981
@haraldbackfisch1981 Жыл бұрын
Take any reverb set it to 40% dry, then turn it off and listen to the difference. Turn it back on and set it to 100% dry, then turn it back off. Leave it off and uninstall the reverb. Now all of your track will sound crisp and dry. 10/10 would recommend.
