I had an equally bad experience with PRS . I will try to keep it as short as possible. In the late 80’s I wanted a PRS with minor changes, like set up from the factory with my gauge strings, zebra pickup coils instead if double black that were on every guitar they made back then. When I went to the PRS dealer, they called PRS direct. Problem was I got the second in charge. I was told the “ possibly” could set up a guitar with my gauge string , he would “ have to ask Paul” but would no way guarantee it to stay in tune. They build everything with.009s and their claim to fame then was the guarantee the guitar to stay in tune. As far as zebra coil pickups I was also told “ he would have ask Paul” and if it were possible it would be a upgrade charge. So, you might build me a guitar that you won’t guarantee to stay in tune and charge me more than the outrageous price they all ready cost? I told the guy- I wish I remembered his name - If I were Ted Nugent or Carlis Santana you would do it no problem, so stick your guitar where the sun don’t shine- bye. Yeah regular guy’s money don’t seem to matter much to these guys. Instead they release signature models of the same guitar to people no one ever heard hoping for exposure. I did buy a used PRS many years later and really was disappointed. I still have it, rarely play it but keep it knowing I can sell it for much more than I paid for it. I’m for Paul to kick the bucket, maybe it will go up in value a little more then? sorry such a long story
@roycedot9 күн бұрын
@@buzzedalldrink9131this story makes no sense. Nobody can guarantee any guitar will stay in tune. Guitars go out of tune by their nature e.g. changing humidity, new strings needing to be stretched out. No guitar exists that won't go out of tune at some point. And you wishing for Paul's death speaks volumes. A bitter person making up weird stories.

Good Luck to all involved. Good wire jockeys are hard to find and Mr Dumble was quite rightly respected by great players, massively talented. My good fortune was to work with Dave West in Flint Michigan during the heyday of the big West Grandes and Fillmores. Dave was an unusual man too, and testing circuits was the funnest. He was still building new amps till late in his health life, and watching him twist the knobs, listen to the twenty five different speakers he bought for testing was just the greatest time. Great wire jockeys are the hardest to find. Mr Dumble falls into a very small category. Thanks,,,

@@KleyDeJong People just don't care about those brands and have no emotional association with them like they do with a prolific brand like Dumble. It's a bit silly to call those affordable amps just because you're comparing it to a Dumble though lol 95% of the world would consider that price range end game territory for an amp head. Plus getting one of those knockoffs/clones for those prices is a bit too much like spending over $1200 on any epiphone imo. You're getting something that almost gets the job done for WAAAY too much. There's nothing stopping these legacy brands but "integrity" (aka money) from mass producing their limited run fomo art pieces. Just gotta get comfortable with the fact that no new musicians are buying/playing anything from these legacy brands (gibson/mesa/dumble/etc.) or the collectors hoarding them. @@SlyRyFryyes handwired boards / high quality PCB construction is expensive. Y'all out here having a religious experience over this stuff...like it's the manhattan project....like he's Oppenheimer. "If he thought you were worthy of one of his amps" "You had to be a very special player to get reverb added". Give me a break. Guy sounds like an absolute Loon. Not really my thing, but the amps sound good. That said I'm not hearing anything I couldn't dial in on a $500 blues junior and a pedal. Hey, it's a thing. There seems to be a lineage to it and I'm sure the customers will scrutinize every facet of the new amps before slapping down money for one (or more) of them. It's kind of cool that someone who does buy one gets to know that the amps will be gone over by people who really know what they should be, not just some salesperson saying things they read in a pamphlet. Sure, there are clones out there but I doubt any of those are perfectly in spec since they came from a lot of guess work and measurements, not the man's personal notes and requirements. I'm not a boutique kind of person, myself, but I know some who are. Considering that folks already spend big money on snake oil as it is, in most categories of purchases, why should these be a bad bet relatively? I highly doubt that the new Dumble amps are anything less than what the man made while he was with us so my bet is that it's a pretty good bet if that thing is what you feel you need and you're not comfortable with random clones. The main guy there seems to be pretty bummed about Alexander's passing, you can tell they were close. I can't see him doing the snake oil thing.

How to make a dumble. Put a tube screamer in a deluxe reverb with 100w output. Cover whole circuit in tone goop and make a million $$😊

Man this is spot on. His amps are nothing special really. Find my reply above. He's was a better salesman than a amp builder by far. You know these guys are gonna try to get major bucks on a old circuit that we now have a copy of tone wise in pedals lol. Howard is dead. His tone is dead. Leave him dead. This is just a money grab on the back of a dead man.

I’ll stick with my Boogie 1,2 and 3, Twin, DSL50, and Vibrolux, and money left over.

When will these be put out for sale? As Dumble, sorry, Mr. Dumble, tweaked and made signature amps for people, I've always thought each amp was different. What kind of amps will these be?

Given what Dumble actually did in building amps, more or less, personally for a select few artists I don't see how they can sell anything but the name.

Why would I pay HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars for any Dumble amp when I can buy some good profiles for Tonex or other amp sims for $20? Anyone know why someone would pay tons of $ for one of these instead of just getting some well-sampled profiles? I already saw some months ago for Dumble OD special I think. I mean, if all you want is one amp and no lag time and this is your holy grail, I guess then you'd pay whatever they charge.

Wait a minute................ Stevie didn't want anything to do with Dumble, he had a few phone conversations with Mr dumble, he then sent Stevie a huge bill ($4000!) Stevie didn't want anything to do with him after that.

I saw SRV in the mid ‘80s in Australia. Great concert. SRV had a wall of amplifiers and speakers including Fenders and Marshalls and a Leslie. The sound came from SRV’s fingers. The amps etc just added a little colour and a lot of volume.
