Something about this interpretation of the song puts me in mind of New Orleans jazz and ragtime, even though the song its gospel/blues in origin.

Just beautiful, great guitar and vocal, I played with Rev. Davis in Seattle in 1972, I do this song but I mostly frail it to make it easier to sing. That is a beautiful 12 string, God bless from Port Orchard, WA.

that's a great cover, no doubt! One thing I have found w/ Rev Gary Davis is that his playing style has a kind of extemporaneous quality to it. I never saw him live or anything but just by listening to his recordings & some KZbin videos, that is what I come away with.....he just seemed to be making it up on the spot. Over the years a number of his students (whom have gone on to be successful performers themselves) have confirmed in various interviews that he never played a song the same way twice. I guess that's what separates him from the rest of us mere mortals :) Anyway, I enjoyed your version very much, thanks for sharing!
