So cool they were on Sub Pop playing rockabilly during the grunge era. Love those guys.

Saw Rev on a Social D tour when Rev's 1st album was out. Never heard of the Rev at that time. They rocked Soc D into the ground. They not only played well, but their stage presence & antics were so fucking hyper and bad ass. Jimbo laid it's bass on the side and the Rev (singer) stood on it while playing his solo. Of course, Taz was thunderous and fucking AAAAAAAWWWWWWWW as always. Wish Taz never left. I can't even describe them except fuckin' rockin' & superior excellence. 11/10 star performance.

Same here...I was so impressed with Bently and the "Psychobilly" sound. First three albums the best...

I saw Rev open up for Frank Black in Cleveland. I never heard of RHH, was pumped for FB. I saw their equipment before their set and thought to myself, great, a sockhop. Needless to say I, like most of the crowd were blown away. When FB band finished their first set. I was not alone yelling for a RHH encore. They totally blew FB off the stage and I was a huge Pixies fan.

Robertgutglueck 0 seconds ago Scott was a great drummer and Paul Simmons was ok but neither one ever came close to what TAZ brought.

I was in a rockabilly surf band here in Lawrence Kansas that was really enjoying a lot of success around 1989 to 1991 or two. I think we open for them three times. It was at the bottom that, a great little venue. Love them got to hang out with them got to know them at least on there short visits but all of them were amazing but I remember that they had switched drummers after the first time we opened for them that guy played with a much more strip down kit. And then I remember the next time they came they had Taz. I was a bit shocked at how many drums and symbols he had before the sound check got rolling and then I thought oh my God man and then I went and asked I think Jimbo the bass player and he said yeah man we got them from a metal band but this is the kind of stuff he's decided he really wants to do so we're glad to have him. And then Shaw Wilson my drummer, who later went on to be in BR549, was hilarious as hell and really knew the old school stuff and had liked this band for at least 2 years so going back to about 1987 when they were mostly just playing around Texas I believe. I said what do you think about that new Drummer as a drummer? I don't know man way too much stuff and I said the same thing and we were just so young that we thought it was selling out to have too many drums even though I loved rush for example, laugh. But these are supposed to be very different genres you know what I mean, everything was so raw about this band and incredible. And when he played it was okay, but not near as good as the guy before him. And then my drummer said later, well and we had both just hung out with them for about 20 minutes, he said kind of an old cliche saying that is critical of someone's intelligence but also very jokingly. We both agreed that we really like this personality but we just wondered how he could possibly fit coming from more of a metal scene. Well they came back through like eight months later and we opened for them again and oh my god. Taz had strip down that drum kit, not super stripped down by any means but he had reduced it a lot and he had found his groove with them. That indeed was a stellar lineup.

Great! Love'em - hope they'll come to europe, maybe even germany, maybe even Hannover - that's, like, the only thing that sucks about them - damned far away most of the time... ... and smoking on stage, kind of, tells the story of good old times, when you could smoke literally everywhere.
@n3lee9 ай бұрын
can still smoke on stage as part of 'artistic performances' in at least most of the 50 states...
