What a great entertainer. Saw him first at the BellyUp Saloon in Solana Beach in ‘95. Years later he sat down at the table next to my wife and I in Jake’s Steakhouse in Billings MT before his show in a little dive bar. Had a quick conversation and photo op with him. Very gracious guy, I’m sure he was hoping to just have a steak in peace. Put on another great show that evening. Venue size makes no difference, you’re going to get 2.5 hours of smoking acid rockabilly.

I saw these guys in the backyard of the Delta House during Fry St Fair in 1989 at the University of North Texas. They were up and coming but still pretty unknown and played with the band Billy Goat who played their "Nurture my Pig" album live, also in the back yard. Tripping Daisy may have played that year or the next but they rocked as well. There was a lot of tripping going on for several days, it definitely lived up to its name. The Corkscrew, Jim's Diner and the Flying Tomato were all on that street. Several years ago the entire block was torn down for apartments and a Walgreens I think.
