i'm intrigued by the way sanctuary ai is bridging the gap between human and machine intelligence, especially with their focus on physical interaction methods. it's refreshing to hear rose's take on ai as a job creator, not a job taker

I think this guy Geordie has already implemented an ai into his body..he seems aloof. Also, i have never noticed in his vids from years ago, his new tic of looking up every few seconds.

I've literally been saying the same!! He doesn't age. He's been predicting the demise of humans for years and he has no emotion about it. Creepy.

does this guy realise how big an area was affected by Chernobyl? I wonder if he have the same attitude if he lived in a area made uninhabitable by a meltdown. To dismiss as a minor thing is amazing. I guess living thousands of miles away in the US gives you a different perspective unlike most of Europe which suffered effects for years after.

Catastrophising is one extreme. Assuming things will work out is the opposite error. It makes sense to say let's talk and work things out but criminals are everywhere ready to abuse the system. Most people want to see progress that applies an appropriate level of self control where experts agree on the risk / reward balance. Otherwise this was an interesting conversation.

Wouldn’t AI eventually be the worker that’s more intelligent than us, not just tools.

Rose almost seems like an ideologue. But de-growth advocates can also seem dogmatic Rose says that the robots might become self-aware.. but he says nothing about the complex implications of that.. which would be problematic. The nuclear energy problem is a strong case, that I happen to agree with, but he might be conflating that analogy with an altogether different and more complex problem regarding AI alignment. I also don’t understand “regulatory capture”.. Why wouldn’t regulation impact the leaders in the field equally? While it’s true they already developed their tech, why wouldn’t regulation impact them too? This is not to assume Congress would do well in this capacity.. I could also see them hurting innovation

Yeah it was definitely off putting. I think his webcam is just at a weird angle. That and Jason’s blue light glasses made the beginning a bit rocky lol
