I’m keto and mostly OMAD. Although I eat dinner to be able to eat with my family. 2 day water fasts every 2 or 3 weeks are no problem, and 5-7 day water fasts once in a while are my weapon of choice and are surprisingly easy. I feel great coming off those longer fasts. Remember, your body doesn’t fix anything by eating, no matter what it is you’re consuming. Give it a break and let your hormones do their job.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🫀 Understanding Heart Disease* - Heart disease occurs due to fat buildup inside the walls of arteries. - The process involves hardening of arteries, accumulation of fat, and damage to the endothelium. - To reverse heart disease, it's crucial to lower blood pressure, reduce blood sugar, and restore endothelial function. 03:11 *🔄 Autophagy and Heart Disease Reversal* - Autophagy, the recycling process of cellular debris, plays a key role in reversing heart disease. - Lowering inflammation is crucial for promoting autophagy. - Monitoring the Dr. BOS ratio, which assesses glucose and ketone levels, helps gauge autophagy effectiveness. 04:47 *🥗 Dietary Strategies for Autophagy* - Adopting a ketogenic diet can help lower blood sugar and increase ketone levels, promoting autophagy. - Implementing intermittent fasting and narrowing the eating window can further enhance autophagy. - Additional strategies like sauna usage and sardine fasting can stimulate autophagy and support metabolic health. Summary The video discusses how heart disease can be reversed through autophagy, focusing on lowering blood pressure, reducing arterial inflammation, and restoring endothelial function. It explains the role of diet, fasting, and sauna therapy in promoting autophagy and improving metabolic health. Highlights ⚙ Heart disease reversal with autophagy is possible by addressing factors like blood pressure, arterial inflammation, and endothelial function. 🍽 Lowering blood sugar and blood pressure, reducing arterial inflammation, and restoring endothelial function are crucial steps in reversing heart disease. 🔄 Autophagy, the process of cellular waste removal, plays a key role in reversing heart disease by promoting metabolic health. 🥗 Dietary changes, fasting, sauna therapy, and sardine fasts are recommended methods to promote autophagy and improve metabolic health. 🌅 Timing meals earlier in the day and maintaining a narrow eating window can help stimulate autophagy and improve metabolic health. 🏋‍♂ Exercise, particularly in a sauna, stimulates mitochondria and promotes the production of ketones, aiding in autophagy. 🐟 Sardine fasts, lasting three days, can help stimulate autophagy by reducing food volume, increasing protein and fat intake, and lowering blood sugar. 📉 Monitoring the glucose ketone index and aiming for a Dr. BOS ratio below 40 can indicate optimal autophagy levels. 🎓 Joining a Master Class or online course on consistently keto can provide detailed steps for reversing heart disease through autophagy.

I’m 74 and have lost 140 lbs so far. The first 90 were according to my dietitian instructions (except for the tons of chocolate I ate because I’m an addict). As the weight reduced, my skin looked like I was melting. Pretty awful to behold, but I expected it as a result of what I had done to my body…. I thought I deserved it. The last 50 lbs is with keto where some of it was not high fat and now it is high fat…. I didn’t understand the “high” fat part of Keto until recent months when I found Dr Boz. I can see a remarkable difference in my skin. It’s shrinking instead of melting. I don’t expect the body I had when I was young, but I would be so happy to have fewer layers of hanging skin. That you Dr Boz. You are such a blessing!

I’m a nurse and was forced to get the jab. I took it due to the threats. My bad. had severe Moderna post vaccine injury. I was fainting, in arrhythmia, I could not drive or sometimes walk. I had severe brain fog and chest pain. I fasted for 80 hours and almost all my symptoms disappeared. I now fast once a month. I read all the food labels and don’t drink alcohol or soda, or anything with sugar. Autophagy also helped with other issues. This is valuable information. Sardines - No 😂

@suzannemarie7125 excellent post. Perhaps you can answer my question, please. I just started 4 days ago. I'm already in ketosis. How is it determined if the ketones produced are from the high fats being ingested or from the liver using up fatty liver stores ( when person is not yet in the fasting phases of her program) ??
@suzannemarie7125

@@DR3itmatters I was on a water fast for 80 hours. So in my case it was not from fats ingested. The purpose of my fast was to be in a state of autophagy so it may eat up junk in my system and reset my immunity, and reduce (rid inflammation) etc. I monitored myself with urine dipsticks so I could monitor ketones,dehydration , etc. I have done the fast multiple times for different intervals. I DO NOT think there is a cookie cutter science. I’m smaller in physical stature, I did not eat a lot the day before, my fast was motivated by going into autophagy, I fasted 80 hours for the longest fast, however I think I reached autophagy in the 40th hour. Great luck to you in your search for your right answers.

@@DR3itmattersit's from the ketones. Your body will have not release ketones when you are in ketosis while you are fasting nit eating fatty foods. Go on Dr Berg or Dr Ekberg video and type in ketosis. You can eat too much fat initially if you are trying to lose weight. Note...this is not about not necessarily losing weight but a lifestyle. Fasting constantly 16 minimum but especially 18 to 20 is the key . The prolong fasts are more random. But thx key is to eat fatty foods like beef, butter, bacon, seafood, etc. low low carb. Eat in a short window preferably after you are adapted to fasting in a few weeks , to only eat preferably one meal a day but don't do it to quickly. Get fat adapted. In the beginning there is a fine line on how to balance the fat intake of you are doing to lose weight. The fatty part of diet will allow you to fast longer because you are more satisfied. Just don't deprived yourself of the necessary nutrients. And also you have to watch out for keto flu therefore take in electrolytes to hydrate yourself.

I’ve had it for over a year and I notice my symptoms gets worse when I don’t eat any carbs for 1-3 days. I guess people react different. I lost 30-35 lbs and got persistant Afib AFTER I lost weight. I had 1-2 meal every day for 3-4 months. After 4-5 months my body reacted and I got Afib😢 Even though I have eaten supplements like magnesium and potassium it didn’t reverse, only symptoms that got better. I have a CHADSVASC score that was zero, still they gave me Edoxaban and Metoprolol after I was released from hospital to reduce the chance of getting stroke. The truth is that Afib alone isn’t the reason for stroke alone, but I didn’t know that at that time. I still take the anti coag and metopr. because it eases the symptoms even though I didn’t need it BECAUSE of the Afib alone. Perhaps my blood is a little thick, idk. Don’t know what to do with this situation, (?) maybe a cardioversion could help, but I have an eerie feeling about that..😯

Dr. Boz, My understanding is that autophagy is forcing the body to recycle “proteins”. For example, to clear the spike protein from the blood, (1) stop eating protein for a few days and (2) donate a pint of blood. Donating blood increases the demand for protein because new blood cells must be constructed. A large demand and small supply of protein will force the body to use autophagy to recycle the spike protein. In that context, I don’t see how a sardine diet would help with autophagy. The autophagy you are speaking of does not seem to involve recycling proteins.

Just the starting points of those red & blue lines within those 3-days windows are closer for water fast. If both yield similar Autophagy effect, I may prefer to do Sardine fast twice a year to cleanse out the unavoidable cancer cells in my body. Hope in future Dr Boz or any1 post a similar study but do the water fast first & sardine fast second. I guess the diagrams will be very similar. I tried electrolytes fast while I was healthy, was an attempt to motivate my relatives with terminal cancers. @ great! hope you bring us good news. I experimented a bit on myself as warmup for fat fast by putting half a piece (~100g) of grass fed unsalted butter into a keto soup. It was great for the first couple spoons…. Tried several days. I still eating like 10 cans of sardine with other food last week. But not fat fast. I like to do run+walk to burn those residue carbs when I did sardine challenges. Some minor findings: A couple of Bulletproof espresso with MCT:C8 + ghee (to wake me up. Only take some cod fish oil when I have good mood) A cup of electrolyte with creatine, inulin, L-Gluamine, probiotics (inulin as food for probiotics, creatine to kind of ease me out to do outdoor exercises, glutamine to sort of improve my endurance during exercise / to rapidly replenish the one-cell thick protective layer in my gut for my couch-to-10K-jog), take some B6 & rub some magnesium oil after shower if I have headache after exercises. I keep changing my routines after being educated by various KZbin content creators. I heard some exercises (eg sprinting) can make the age of my heart a decade younger. The thickness of heart wall becomes thicker (more muscle?) (or thinner, I can’t remember lol). But I’m 60+ years young now. Need some way to trick my mind to motivate my ass to just go out under sun shine & sweat. I’m still working on it. Oh, exercise can reduce the risk of getting Alzheimer’s or more likely to slow it down in my case. May try to refrain myself from buying my favourite beers even when it’s half price 😂

I had always wanted to do it cause yogis do it to live long. I was about to turn 50 at the time and had many pre existing conditions (pre diabetes, high blood pressure, scared liver, etc.). I also had a hardening of my artery around my left chest area. I knew that, if I didn't fast, I would not make get past the plague. The autophagy healed me of those pre existing conditions (including most of the eye sight issues I was experiencing due to the high sugar I had in the blood; as well as benign tumors I had on the skin that had accumulated from my time sun bathing in the Caribbean back in the day). The autophagy also tightened the 20 inches worth of extra skin I had sagging on me after loosing about a hundred fifty pounds (half my body weight) over the last several years.

I'll try this for Lent this year. I typically start with a 3-4 day water fast, then I'll switch my eating habits. Thankfully I love Sardines 😊. The hardest part is quitting everything else. Caffeine, nicotine, I use the Zyn pouches and sugar. I normally have a headache for about two weeks. Then I start to feel amazing. Why I come crawling back after Lent I don't know. It's probably just not sleeping enough when work gets hectic, but still I need to learn to stay on this lifestyle perpetually not just for a month and a half out of the year. You optimize autophagy in a number of ways. Even if you do them, autophagy gets suspended at night if you bring light to your night. Heart disease is underperforming mitochondria, that is responsible for autophagy. Cholesterol is supposed to reinforce inflammation damage, but not with calcium attached. Vitamin k2 carboxylates osteocalcin to make sure the calcium is left in bone and teeth. Youve got lots to learn about mitochondria that I havent even mentioned. One thing you should have known by now is that a heart attack is in tissue with vastly underperforming mitochondria that is generating lactic acid to seize the muscle. The vascular system has ways to work around blockages with new vessels to feed heart tissue. We consume light and night for proper wellness. That first meal should be within 30 minutes of waking at dawn to see the sunrise. Ketones is from fat burning. You won't burn fat without being leptin sensitive. Many many are leptin resistant because of their light and night environment.

Would it be early in the day, middle, later, or very late? My guess would be after the first meal and before the trough of the ketones. It also seems to me that lowering the spikes of glucose might have a greater effect on the Dr. Boz Ratio™.

Dr. Boz. Have you considered a very low-protein ketogenic diet for plaque reversal??? Consider all the “ingredients” used to make plaque. One important component is PROTEIN! If low amounts of protein are consumed (for a period of time), the body would be forced to recycle the protein already existing within the body. Several remarkable studies show reversal of heart disease and plaque after being rescued from starvation conditions (concentration camps / prisoners of war). Additionally, Drs. Esselstyn and Ornish have demonstrated disease reversal by utilizing their vegan, no oil , no fat diets. What do these example “diets” have in common besides demonstrating disease reversal? A deficiency of protein! For anyone wanting to take these recommendations seriously and accelerate results, you may want to eliminate the protein ingestion (animal and plant) for a period of time (months or years?). Afterwards, a better diet could be commenced with sufficient protein for muscle synthesis and avoidance of sarcopenia (muscle loss - especially in old age).

Great question. Think of it this way. Blood glucose in low to normal levels, we will say fasting blood glucose of less then 85 "may" allow your body to restore the endothelial glycocalyx, and because of close association with the endothelium, it thereby helps to support endothelial function by improving endothelial production of nitric oxide, restores endothelial permeability, and also contributes to the anti-inflammatory properties. Nitric oxide is needed to maintain a healthy "normal' blood pressure. If you are having blood pressure issues "while not on medications", then take a look at taking a good electrolyte powder, many people are deficient. I like Dr. Eric Berg's because it has a good amount of potassium, it also helped with my leg cramps at night.
