Successfully cast on 150 stitches with this method on circular needles for a hat. The hardest part was the second step, coming up in "back" of the yarn below. It works perfectly with a pattern which starts with 2 purl rows. I like it! Shows off the pearl bumps nicely, especially in a variegated Bamboo Pop. An excellent new skill. Thanks!

Just up this morning and ready to CO a pair of mittens in the round. I wanted an inch of reverse stocking stitch first before I did a 2x2 rib. This looks a lot better and is so easy. Thanks a bunch.

Great video. I never really thought about which side those purl bumps were on, but I'll be paying attention now.

I use the sling shot method when I’m working ribbing or some version of “in pattern.” I do the same thing you demonstrated for purling but I don’t ever worry about which yarn is in the front or back. Actually I don’t think I ever worry about that.

Rox, thanks a million for this video, I am excited for next week's when you talk about casting on in pattern! I have some questions about it that I will take to the Ravelry group because it might become too long to lay it out in the comments.

Would also be useful in casting on for ribbing! Thank you Roxanne!

Hello, Roxanne. Question- can mittens be done on 2 circulars or in the alternative on 9" needles? I have been doing them flat but want to try in the round but hate the long cable method. Love the cast- on by the way!!!

You can use any technique and tool combination that allows you to work a small circumference in the round, including dpns, small circumference circulars, two circs, one long circ, or Flexi-Flips.

Thank you for a great demonstration. A question I have is, how to measure out the long working tail for the cast on with out ripping it out several times and then thinking, “This the length it is”. For instance, if a pattern needs 109 stitches cast on, how long should the loose yarn be from the slip Knot?

I did a video on that in Feb 2017. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6OrmYxjlr6dgdk

I would like to know the best way to set a drop shoulder sleeve into a body knitted in the round up to arm hole area. My pattern just says sew in the sleeve. Thanks.

Watching grass grow is slow and boring. This instruction from Ms. Roxanne is educational and helpful. When you post your knitting tips, let us all know so we can watch what you have to offer; it ought to be interesting to say the least.
