This was one of my new years resolutions.....I refuse to beg anyone to hang out with me. If u can't make time for me, then I have no time for you. If I text someone 2 or 3 times and they can't text me back within 2 to 3 days, then I lose their number. You will lose people, but at least you will finally know who is true to you and who is only there for you when it's convenient and beneficial for them.

The saddest thing is that many people will settle with someone who doesn’t value them out of fear of being alone. I am speaking for myself as well. I stayed in a long painful marriage out of fear of being alone. It took me 19 yrs to realize my own worth and self respect. Since I walked away, I have practiced Stoicism and have learned not to live with anger or hurt because other’s don’t see my value. The only validation I need is my own. It has made me such a powerful individual and I am so much happier. I am single but I still have hope that someday, the right person will come. Sending love and peace to everyone. ❤✌️

This video had me ugly crying. I had to stop it a few times to collect myself, and go on. I was raised in a rather… not so good… way. My mother is a covert narcissist and she destroyed the blossom of my self-esteem before it even had the chance to sprout. Her cruelties have shaped me into an absolute wreck of anxiety, depression, and people pleasing that has left me a husk of a woman who has suffered so deeply for the happiness and approval of others. If I had a father growing up who had said these words to me, things would have turned out so differently. I’m turning 43 in April, and have just suffered the silence of yet another rejection. Each one hurts more than the last, since my mother beat an anxious attachment style into me at the ripe old age of 8. All my life, it’s been, “See? I can take such good care of YOU. YOUR happiness is all that matters. I can only be happy if YOU are happy. If YOU aren’t happy, you’ll leave. I’ll do anything to take care of YOU.” My needs just didn’t matter… they never have. Thank you so much for making this video. In this half hour, you brought so much comfort to my battered inner child… I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. Dunno if you’ll actually read my comment, but I thought I’d post, anyhow. Liked and subscribed. Thank you again. -a less frightened bunny

@@JulioPaulino-w6d maybe nowadays people's become more selfish, looking for materialistic & fun only. They don't care about people's feeling. Oh well, I prayed everyone that has been hurt, been in toxic relationship may find love and happiness in whatever they do in career, holidays, in a person who loved them deeply. @@JulioPaulino-w6d because the Western modern society has crumbled the family unit and traditional values. Men and women both want to party and have sex in their 20's, not get married and have children and then when they finally do decide to get married and have children they want a divorce right after so they can go back out playing the field. This has destroyed traditional dating, throw in the dating apps where people just want to be validated and no true real connection and everyone now just ghosts everyone left and right, no values whatsoever.

It has taken so long for me to realize that the path to peace is not by being accepted by others but by getting to know and accept myself. Rejection is painful until you accept yourself. Be kind to yourself, build yourself up and love yourself. It is a miracle that we are here so don’t let anyone take that away from you. Pain demands our attention but get out in nature and breath it all in relief will come. If you can only sit watch nature from your window or on the tv and take long deep breathes…try to get fresh air and sun whenever you can. Nature is our best friend because it has the power to heal us…one day at a time.

@ChrissyWearBear, I am a mother, and I would never walk away from my children, 3 out of 4 of mine chose to walk away from me. No explanation, and for those of you who say to me “there is a reason and you know what it is “ You are wrong, because I have no clue. My son and daughter in law who are still in my life love me enough, so I don’t know why. I refuse to involve my son in this situation, but he does say that they are Passive Aggressive cowards who are just afraid to talk to their mother and tell her why they are angry. I have always had open communication with all of my children and they have never been afraid to talk to me about anything before. I used to be extremely upset and sad about them not talking to me, but I did start studying Stoicism. My entire perspective changed and I am happy to say that I am ok now. Stoicism has taught me how to really think about situations and people, and my place in this world in general. I now know my purpose. Like I said, I would never walk away from my children, but they chose to walk away from me and I will respect their decision. I wish them well.

The hardest lesson I’ve learned is that staying in a relationship where you're not valued can drain you more than being alone ever could. I spent years trying to make things work with someone who didn’t see my worth, and it took hitting rock bottom to finally walk away. Embracing Stoicism has helped me heal and focus on my own growth instead of seeking validation from others. Now, I’ve found strength in solitude and happiness in knowing my own value. I’m not rushing to find someone new; instead, I’m enjoying this journey of self-discovery. Remember, it’s better to be alone than to lose yourself trying to be loved. Much love and peace to everyone on a similar path.

were you always complaining, talking sht about people, lying, giving backhanded compliments or negative to be around? Most people don’t wanna be around people like that and you’re highly unlikely to be ghosted if you’re a good person to be around

@@dlouise64 That's not true. I ghosted a friend once, and she was a good person, but she kept going back to her x who had abused her. I couldn't cope as I had had a similar x but I was determined to heal. I found it hard. Also, I had a job and two children and she had one child and no job and all in all, my time was taken up with my children when I wasn't working. She expected quick replies to her texts. It was I now realise my own inability to communicate my needs to her that lead to my ghosting her in a panic. I was overwhelmed and triggered, but she was a good person and I feel sad about the loss of a friendship which could if I'd had better communication skills been saved.

One of the most valuable videos for me in a very long time. I take dance classes and one woman has rudely declined to dance with me. I did not respond back to this behavior but the rejection has been bugging me for several days. After watching the video I now have a new perspective on the situation. I will practice polite avoidance with this woman. There are many other women to dance with in the class.

Try to do my best so it’s actually the other person loss.! my grandmother told me something when I was very young, and I always followed it when somebody would do this ghosting thing even as a child she say, don’t you dare knock on their door let them in their own juices! They always knock on my door and came back lol! As long as you like your own company, you’re good to go

According to stoicism, the only thing that truly deserves our respect is virtue, and the only thing that can harm us is vice. Therefore, we should not respect people who lack virtue or display vice, regardless of their status, wealth, power, or popularity. Here are nine examples of such people: The liar, who deceives others and himself, and loses trust and credibility. The coward, who runs away from challenges and difficulties, and misses opportunities for growth and improvement. The unjust, who violates the rights and interests of others, and creates conflict and resentment. The intemperate, who indulges in excesses and pleasures, and neglects his health and duties. The greedy, who is never satisfied with what he has, and always wants more and more. The arrogant, who thinks he is better than everyone else, and looks down on others. The ignorant, who does not seek knowledge and understanding, and remains in error and confusion. The angry, who lets his emotions get the better of him, and acts impulsively and violently. The envious, who resents the success and happiness of others, and feels miserable and bitter. These nine people do not deserve our respect, because they are not living according to nature and reason. They are harming themselves and others, and they are missing the true good of life, which is virtue. We should not imitate them, nor admire them, nor fear them. Instead, we should try to be virtuous ourselves, and respect those who are. That is the stoic way of living.

Yes, its a skill to be above their games. I CANNOT be controlled- I will NOT comply. I go 180° out. Enjoying my life. If I dont have time for them so be it. I simply move within my interests and freedom to do so. Happy to briefly text them, not obligated to set aside time for them at their meager convenience.

I discovered Stoicism about twenty years ago, I remember it changing my life. You have to watch the forums though, there’s a lot of newbies trying to act wiser than each other 😂 No matter how much we read our egos aren’t going anywhere it seems! After reading Jung, Nietzsche and Camus I’d say I’m more of an absurdist in outlook but some of the thought-tools Stoicism gives you, I probably rely on more than I realise.

I hear it all the time "focus on what makes you happy". But, as a person (and this has ALWAYS been the case) what makes me happy is: a. helping people b. fixing people c. loving people d. devoting myself to someone else. So, by being and staying in toxic relationships where people use me I am technically trying to seek what makes me happy. The only caveat is that I want someone who loves me back and who accepts and values me but I have never been able to find it. So when someone says stop focusing on others, focus on making yourself happy...it doesn't work for someone like me who's happiness is derived from giving to others.

@sugarplum2467, that's like describing me ! 😢 I even flew abroad to take care of him for 3 months . And then, months later ,I am told , " Oh , this long distance is so hard , blah , blah." Suddenly, it hits you - you're valued , respected, cherished , important, loved, etc.....only as long as it serves their purpose . As painful and difficult it is , we have to move on . I am trying not to question the why's, ifs and buts because it only brings heartache but to take it one day at a time and be grateful for the blessings I have been given . I hope you continue to stay strong. Sending you hugs!

Thanks for the important teaching. I believe my need for external validation stems from a distant and critical father. After my father passed 15 years ago, I noticed a higher level of self -determination. But I still occasionally trip up in the old patterns and give beyond balance and seek returns. Well it doesn't always work and the sting of rejection triggers the insight into the situation. Walking away, either in silence or maybe with some brief closure, rebalances my emotions and redirects my energy in a more rewarding and constructive direction.
