Here’s my 5 tips for getting the hang of reverse stamping 💅🏼
1 • move quickly when you put polish on the plate, scrape and stamp the design
2 • I prefer to use a dotting tool because it’s easy to clean and I can get near perfect coloring within the lines
3 • Be gentle. Don’t drag your on the design or you risk messing it up.
4 • Don’t let the polish that you’re using to color in the design dry out. Dry stamping polish is hard to work with and will mess up your design.
5 • Let the stamper completely dry before applying it to the nail. If you apply it to your nails right after you’re done painting, all of the polish you reverse stamped will smudge.

Let your design fully dry before stamping it onto the nail?? How does it transfer if its dry?

Sticky base coat (a product Maniology sells). If the design doesn’t fully dry before you stamp it, it will smear. I’ve had it happen a few times 😩

Thank you! I have the colors mentioned/listed in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqjLaWd6Z919gNksi=w8C5_GohcIjvFA0G It’s an eggnog looking base coat topped with beautiful flakes. I show an alternative product if you don’t have flakes or don’t want to use two different products.

So do you let the plate design dry before you start painting? Seems to me the colors would blend together if not. Ive never done it though.

I do - if I didn’t let it fully dry; it would bubble up and peel off the nail layer on (a mistake I’ve had happen a few times)

So it should be dried on the stamp before stamping it on the nail ??

When doing reverse stamping (coloring in on the stamp), yes. You have to let it completely dry. If you don’t, and try to stamp it on your nail immediately, it smudges and looks very bad.

Gel nail polish air dries? I thought it only dries under the lamp

Oh no, I’m using Stamping Polish. Which is a nail lacquer that air dries.

@@prettifulmuffin to do stamping nail designs? It is; they make stamping gels, but in my experience and other reviews I’ve read; the quality isn’t great.

@@CaroleAnnette thanks for the reply! I wish someone would do a nail stamping 101 series. I am self taught and have really gotten into gel nail polishes and can’t figure out why my stamping attempts aren’t working. Can I use the stamping polish on top of cured gel polish?

@@prettifulmuffin that’s one of my goals for this year, to do a stamping 101 series. Yes, you can use stamping on top of cured gel.

There are streaks in the stamping plate. they transfer onto the silicon stamper. The video cuts and shows a perfect transfer but i wanna know How do you get rid of those streaks?

@@Victoriaking13 the cloudy streaks you see on my plate are caused from cleaning the plate with acetone. It doesn’t transfer onto my stamper when I pickup the design, so it doesn’t affect the stamped design. The way to get rid of them off the plate is to clean with rubbing alcohol before stamping. It’ll be perfectly shiny.

Not the cloudy streks all over...im talking about when you scrape the polish across the plate with the card, it leaves streaks of polish through the design.

@@Victoriaking13 oh!!! It doesn’t usually pick up on my stamper when I stamp on the plate - so I never worry about those

Why is it by the time I’m filling the design the black outline is dry and breaks? :(

It can mean that the tool you’re using color in the lines is touching the lines. This can happen when there’s not enough polish on the tool or it’s drying up. I try to make sure I’m constantly grabbing more polish from my palette ever 3-4 strokes, so I have fresh polish on my dotting tool/brush.
