Optic did NOT fall short and they did NOT fail to meet expectations. They started in LR1 after a 1-4 qualifier stage. Them making the run to T4 was all that fans really wanted, some momentum and practice for champs. That run is more than anyone could truly expect. Looked like a top snd team and good ice. NY made a miracle run in qualifying for champs, even me as a fan didn’t think they would be able to pull it off. In saying that however, the difficulty of the bracket seems to favor Thieves more than Subliners in champs. NY basically have to beat Atlanta(can they do it?) and Ravens/Surge then most likely they have to fend off Thieves to make the grand final and possibly facing Thieves again for the title. I want to see NY win it all but with how scary Thieves are playing, it may be 2 consecutive grand final losses to them if they do meet in the end.

There's a lot of talk about Faze underperforming, though personally I think they're still playing at a top tier level. The difference in Vanguard has been the talent on the other teams, and that the skill gap has closed. Even if they don't win Champs I feel Faze should take the same roster into MWII, and only change if the performances really do start to slip.

Aches referencing Toronto’s 10 point losses in hard points but then brushing over Seattle’s hardpoint loss by 2 points just doesn’t make any sense. Seattle flipped spawns, gave Boston the good spawns, which gave them enough time to contest and rotate, which is why they lost and finished 12th. That doesn’t happen Seattle moves on. He references the bad format for other teams but then brushes over it when it comes to Seattle, who only got to play one match in the tourney. Then he says “They can’t do it against the good teams” when they’ve matched up with Faze better than every other team except Optic throughout the year. OpTic playing Bocage isn’t a bad idea. Getting reps on a map that a lot of teams play to get momentum and Faze being extremely dominant on that map as far as controlling rotations and controlling pacing I don’t fault OpTic for getting reps on that map. You can’t tell me Bocage isn’t the most momentum driven map in the game. I would rather play my first map as boc to get my hands warm then play a slower paced hp map just my opinion.

I think OpTic, faze, or LAT have the biggest chance of winning the event. Also I think OpTic has actually improved on Berlin and were hiding it from others especially since they knew their control isn’t that good so they had no chance of winning major 4. Their Snd in my opinion is the best in the game next to ultra, and if they fix their control and not play bocage in hardpoint against the top teams they have a good shot of winning champs. Snd wins championships and I don’t think OpTic lost a single one in major 4.

Optic was playing with a substitute for months and only recently got Illey back, plus no one expected them to perform at Major 4 as well as they did (started in losers and only lost to faze).
