This video is so helpful , I understudy the mechanism of bmw engine. What I wanted to know is , how to change direction of motion of cam shaft of a air starting diesel engine ,. does that same AS and AH rollar method we're using on ship diesel engine .

Generally the ahead astern functions are done by a single cam only, so if we change the angular position of the cam shaft the the reversing is done.But now the problem is how to get on to change it well the direction of rotation is decided by the order as per the telegraph(the theory remains same as in present days' digital telegraph).whenever there is a change in the direction first is to change the distributor status to the new direction and this will(in B & W ) allow starting air to be admitted into the units a reverse order so that the engine now automatically starts to turn in reverse direction.Its not the cam shaft which is first reversed but the reversing mechanism which automatically short of drags the engine in reverse direction and as a result the fuel and exhaust cams as being mounted on the camshaft also now start to rotate in reverse direction.But this is different in SULZER where the camshaft is reversed so the starting air ,fuel and exhaust cams change their angular positions simultaneously.

Pls don't make this kind of vague videos. If u are certainly clear how it works and how to explain then do it. Otherwise plz don't. In starting air distributor pilot valve changes the position form inner to outer race for reversing. Which u hv missed it. And fuel pmp Cam reversing in be engine the profile of Cam s wrong.

Are you sure what you said.Do you have any idea of what you r talking ,in starting air if you say that pilot valve changes the position then tell me what commands the pilot valve to change from inner to outer race.It is very well understood that something like the telegraph upon changing from ahd to ast gives the signal to this pilot valve so that the reversing can take place for the distributor.I have just shown the reversing not the fuel cam profile.If you have the correct idea of profile then tell me that correct profile.And do all fuel pumps change their positions on reversing or what and how is it different from Sulzer.

Where do these pilot valves get these signals from, go to the engine practically and see ,trace the lines and thats best you can draw a starting system ten you will get your answer, irrespective of B & W or Sulzer the construction is almost same.
