Review: 2012 Subaru Forester

I review the 2012 Subaru Forester. What do you think about this car! All feedback appreciated, but please keep it constructive!

We've had this subaru for 11 years and in less than a month it will be 12 and it has brought us through many places and gets us to where we are going easily. Apparently even my sister was sleeping once and my parents wrapped her in the blanket, put her i the car and drove to the hospital and i was born. It holds all our memories and if we ever get a new car, we will never forget how special this one is. I love this subaru alot and it feels weird seeing complaints about it when most of them arent true because we have one. It was there for ten years in our old house and one year in our new one. It carried out luggage and almost everything while my mums car barely could even take a quarter of it. I have also always loved cars and my favourite has always been subarus. when i was about 2 years old i used to draw car logos and mostly drew subaru logos. I even had a birthday cake of that logo. Subarus are very reliable vehicles and for me it basically has lasted forever!

I love my forester. Rear view mirror blocks high beams from behind as well. Solid vehicle.

I think you did a great job on the review and I definitely would like to see you do more. The only thing I would suggest is a more detailed exterior and interior tour, and maybe some engine shots. I really like the Forester a lot, for exactly the reasons you mention. The 2014 Forester will redesigned and will have a CVT to address the ancient 4-speed, just FYI (the 4 speed is a very reliable transmission though). Overall great job and I hope to see more!

Liked the video. Just a few suggestions. A walk around of the vehicle at the beginning(Not sure if you have someone who can handle a camera, but it is something you could do as your channel gets bigger). Hate to copy the rest of the people here but a better choice of wardrobe (subaruwrxfan t-shirt would be okay if you wanted to keep it casual). Overall great job. Just out of curiosity where are you getting the cars from?

Nice review, Matt ! You did a great job here. I just don't understand why you want to get those videos on a second channel: Building an audience with car-reviews is very very hard. Even if your english will never be as creepy as mine, I think you will struggle. So why not use the audience you already have ? Great review! Kinda itching for the 2014 Forester. Hopefully that one will bring the turbocharged engine and manual transmission combo back to the Forester line.This is a car that has been lacking in the US for awhile, and would definitely re-invigorate the Forester tuner demographic. If modified right and provided a manual trans, Foresters can be made into a cross between a big Impreza wagon and a small Legacy wagon. I'd break out my wallet over that. Or an LGT Wagon with a manual, of course :P

I own the Premiere ed. 2012 and really enjoy it. Drives well. Stupid on wheel radio controls when radio is within easy reach. But overall Great car. I enjoyed your video.

I have this car that I purchased last June. This is my 3rd Forester and my 5 Subaru starting in 1991. Any review for the guts of the vehicle? I have a problem with the (I believe) PCV. Direction of where I can find more about this issue. Otherwise I love this car, though miss the better sound system and moonroof of my 2008 SX. Cheers

Well I think that most Moms and Dads who are interested in the Forester would simply go for the base NA engine with the CVT. The CVT definitely helps with fuel efficiency and features artificial "manual" modes, but I don't see why they don't at least offer the 6-spd manual on the turbo since it is primarily an enthusiast vehicle. I say, offer both transmissions on all models, let the customer decide.

As much as I was hoping for a return of the turbo/manual combo, the 2014 Forester turbo will be CVT only...yeah it sucks. I don't know why they do it that way but the base model will come with the 6-spd manual, but not the turbo.

I hate those flappy paddle manual modes, yea its cool and a bit fun to take control of the automatic transmission a bit but its not the same amount of skill or fun as a real manual, but you are correct they should offer a choice.
