Review: 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus

The exterior of the Challenger has always been one of my favorite muscle cars but the cheap interior let it down, glad to see they really improved the place you'll be most of the time.

Son just bought a 2014 SXT. I don't think the interior looks "cheap" at all. It's a retro interior like it's a retro car and the interiors on the original Challenger from the 70's was simple.........the "retro" interior of the 2014 and previous years matches the exterior perfectly!

I don't like the way the 2015 model looks inside and outside. It's like the new charger, they messed that one up big time.

I agree that the Charger is not retro. But the Challenger is retro on the body. Very similar lines, etc.

Will, I have a 2012 and I love it. V6 with good power and good gas mileage. I am sure if the guys in this thread who are putting it down drove it, they would be singing a different tune.

moparpreacher The new 8 speed tranny with the 3.6 V6 is as fast as the 5.7 HEMI with the old 5 speed.

Bottom line is, there are plenty of people who LOVE this car and I would ask the dodge car co. to keep this design the way it is for as long as they can. It just looks B-E-A-Utiful! And its a great car, but the small minds wont get why this car appeals to so many people, and also why its following is growing!

WarmSoftKitty I had a 2011. In 2012, my dealer said it was going away in 2014. I am so glad it didn't. The changes for 2015 are amazing.

Something you should mention to your patriotic Canadian viewers, of the three pony cars, the Mustang is the only one built in the States. The Challenger and Camaro are both Canadian

I saw this in my city for the 3rd time already driving down the freeway in the rain. Let me tell ya something guys, this thing is quite the looker. I tell ya I stared so hard I drifted out of the lame a little bit. This thing looks amazing. I was raised a Dodge Man. I Love all My dodges. I have 2 Dodge SUVs and a Charger. I'm about to get the 2015 Charger in February, but hey, if my salary is right, I think this maybe my wife's new toy.!! WAY TO GO DODGE.

The only thing about the v6 is the lack of that v8 sound you can only get with the big engine. The looks are amazing though. The stripped down v8 isn't all that much more than the v6. If I got the v6 I'd always be envious of the v8s. I have a 2014 and the bolstering sucks. There isn't enough bolstering and its too far apart. It's good for super fat people but for the average person, you don't feel held in. That's the biggest fix they need to make.

Isaiah Levingston If you get the SXT with the v6, they are not as expensive. I have a 2012 I bought about 5 or 6 months ago, and I paid 18 for it. Also the gas mileage is better than the Hemi, and the insurance is lower.

moparpreacher I'm old so I pay low insurance on all cars, but I got raped by high insurance when I was younger too. The mileage on the V8 isn't that bad actually. I have the stick and it's about the same as my v6 Accord. Manufacturers tend to lie about their V6 mileage these days. Most actually get about 22 MPG combined. I get between 19-22.

The word is Chrysler, not Chryzler. My 2012 v6 is a true dual exhaust. My only complaint is that I cannot put headers on it. The engine exhaust manifolds are made into the heads, but at least it is true dual exhaust from the engine back.

Quick question, why can't the driver seat be pushed forward for rear passenger entry like the passenger seat?

The front passenger seat is not electric, that is why it can be pushed. The driver seat is electric and you move it forward by using the forward and reverse button on the side of the seat.

My biggest complaint is that even in the manual cars you have a left foot operated parking brake. That makes 4 pedals, FOUR pedals!

Just like the good ole days! I wish they would go back to the bright light switch on the floor too. Well, at least you can wiggle your foot under the bumper nowadays...if you are too lazy to push a button in your pocket!

Why is that a problem? You only use the parking brake when you put it in park and when you release it. So what's the problem.

moparpreacher I like the Challenger and would want it in manual. I just feel four pedals on the floor is crowded and as someone who drives manual I'm used to a hand brake. It's not a malfunction to have a foot brake it's just my preference for all cars.

It "requires" 87, my manual says 89 is "recommended".

First of all the SXT doesn't have the Hemi, it has the V6 19/21 city and 27 hwy. The Hemi is 17/19 city and 25 hwy. As you can see, they are not the same.

There is always a quistion in my mind that I would like to get an answer for. Back in the 70s, they had very small, deep dish rims with high profile tires with the white letters.. I dont know about u guys, but for me it looks cool as hell. I dont know wether the american cars industry changed that in order for the car to look " cool " or is it for saftey reasons... my quistion is ... if I were to install rims form a 70s challenger, would it fit on a 2015 ? Call me crazy but I love those nice looking things.

No, they would not fit. The wheels are made different today mainly because of the brake rotors. Fortunately they make retro style rally wheels. One of the best places to check for wheels and tires, is Coker Tire Co. in Chattanooga. They make retro tires and wheels for period correctness. They can help you with what you want.

The SXT Plus has more features. A big feature is leather.

On the sxt you pretty much don't have anything cloth seats etc. just full on base model and sxt plus it's still the same engine only difference is you can get leather seats navigation sunroof etc.

sxt is the base,no leather and such just a stripped model basically ! sxt plus has leather,navigation,and all those goodies.

I was looking for a review not a sales pitch. Review and critique! I have yet to find a reason to buy this car. Its still a 2-door Charger and its just very old. They need forward design not past reminiscence. I still hate this car. I will pass on this one and I'm in a market for one of the three cars.

Mac, why don't you go drive one first. I have a 2012 Challenger SXT V6, 305 horsepower and I love it. It handles good, good gas mileage, and has plenty of power. It also turns a lot of heads. I lived through the muscle car era. I know muscle. My Challenger is a lot of fun. You owe it to yourself to drive one.

I Really wish Ford, Chevy, and Dodge would just make their retro muscle cars with V8s Only. If they spent all their time and money, for that particular car design, making them killer V8s Only they would be even better cars. KISS … (i.e. if you want a 6 or *gasp* 4 cylinder car, Please buy Something Else. Leave our Awesome muscle cars alone. Please.)

Not to my knowledge, and I lived through the muscle era. It there were v6s back then, there would still be v6s in those cars today. I don't recall any.

The 3.6 V6 is a great daily driver that gets better MPG and is cheaper to ensure and maintain. It also handles better than the Hemi's becasue there is less weight over the front wheels.(better weight distribution also) The 3.6 V6 with the new 8 speed automatic does 0-60 in under 6 seconds, no slouch at all !!
