Tbh the exterior has aged really really well. Like I would not want them to update it. Seriously, it looks great. The Nismo version at least. However, the interior really does need an update.

I've always felt that people that drive 370Z's enjoy driving a car that you don't see every day. I see Mustangs everywhere but rarely see another 370Z on the road. I'm not saying that the 370Z is the most rare car out there. But it's definitely not the most common car out there.

Exactly. Even better if you were able to score a non black/silver/white one, as those colors were usually only made for certain years and rarely exceed 300 units.

I’ve owned a 2012 370z sport for a few years now. It’s a great sports car and a lot of fun on backroads. Your review is very accurate to my experience with the car. All the pros and cons are spot on. Super communicative, very loud, raw, heavier clutch that can be tricky, old school feel, etc. I definitely have the means to buy a more expensive car but I’ve had trouble finding something I like more. Nice review, Matt.

Even in stock form the Z is fun to drive, but get a good cat back exhaust and a tune and the car truly comes to life. The handling is so good. You can go 100 mph + through the twisties and the car just feels so planted and solid. It's not that fast by modern standards, but it has a feel that few other cars can replicate. It will be remembered as one of the last true driver's cars ever made.
@timsgta3 ай бұрын
How fast is a subjective term it is a very quick car not just because you are faster than 95% of what you will encounter daily on the road but for the fact that it is actually still a very quick car

I have a 2012 touring sport (manual)with a stillen exhaust .I traded my 2006 350 base in on it 2 years ago. I love the look of the car it reminds me of a modern version of the 240z. I'm a minimalist when it comes to sports car interiors and don't race people. I just love the heavy feel, sound and handling of this car.I live in Virginia and do a lot of country, twisty backroad driving with it and it never gets old. I can go for weeks without seeing another one on the road.Thats another thing I love about this car.
@spoolin4banger5746 жыл бұрын
For all of you complaining about the horsepower please keep in mind the 370z wasn’t designed to be a drag car 😂 it was designed to be an overall balanced car meaning more thought went into this car with the handling etc. Sure it’s not as fast as a mustang gt in a straight but it’s 100% funner in the corners and the back roads and the car isn’t a slouch . If they made it as cheap and fast as the gt a lot of those components would be sacrificed

I've driven both. My impressions of each - A/T is very smooth. It's not a bad transmission, and there aren't many "flaws" per se. It downshifts pretty crisply in manual mode. However, upshifts are really delayed, and it definitely ruins the driving experience if you're driving spiritedly. You'd upshift and the car would decide to shift what felt like seconds later, which is unacceptable to me in a sporty vehicle. In traffic it's great.... M/T isn't perfect, but I liked it much better than the A/T. The shifter is excellent, and It's a little bit clunky/mechanical, but very precise. The clutch is a bit of a pain on the other hand. It's fairly heavy, which isn't a big deal, but it's vague and engages really abruptly. It was hard to drive the car smoothly. Could see it being a pain in the ass in traffic. That said, if you're looking for the most driver engagement, the M/T is always the way to go, especially in these vehicles. The 6 speed is a joy when you're out in the twisties, and you'll be glad you took it over the A/T.

IF, you can pick up this car for say $26K- $30K, it's worth it. Sure it's dated, but it's very analog and as cars continue to become more and more computerized, fuel efficient, and electric in every sense, these cars will find their niche among enthusiasts who want a throwback feel to driving.

My dad had a 2014 370Z Touring with the Sport Package. I drove it a lot before I moved out and it was a really fun car. They drive really nice, the engine is great, and it was just a cool car in general. I like how the design has held up so well since 2009 but these cars really are due for a redesign. The interior and electronics are very outdated and it's not as competitive as it once was. This used to be the class leader. We put a Borla Cat Back exhaust on it which gave it a really nice sound. Having said all of that, it has some other downsides. I hated the clutch in that car and with only 30,000 miles on it when he sold it, it really felt like it was almost in need of replacement. The seats were too uncomfortable for him and it did get a little tiring to be in after a while. I know it's not a road trip car, just saying for those who are wondering. The biggest flaw of these cars though has to be the amount of road noise they have, it's really annoying on the highway. I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack and I have to say, I like it a lot better than the 370Z. I'm more of a muscle car guy to begin with but the Challenger is just so much faster and more fun to drive IMO. The Z definitely handled better (as it should) but the Challenger is a far superior road trip car and drives great for what it is, not to mention the interior and technology is much more modern. Lastly, you can't beat the V8 sound. As good as the Z sounded with the Borla, it had nothing on the 392 HEMI with the stock exhaust.

After owning a 370z for about 2 years, if you wanna go fast in a straight line it’s not for you. With the way things are going NA sports cars may not be produced as much. Look at what happened to G37 -> Q60 and E92 M3 -> F82 M4. Also Porsche 911 are now TT. May be approaching sad times for NA 6 cylinders.

More like 200lbs, need to remeber Q60 is a GT coupe not a sports car it compete against the 440i and Audi A5/S5. Both the 370z and Q60 have same underpinnings, it's just the sound deadening and materials used in the car add a lot to the weight.

Agreed, Nissan has apparently lost it's passion for selling fun cars. Or are too scared to take the chance on building one. But on the flip side if they do build a new platform it means it would be applicable to the aforementioned crossovers, specifically the ones found in the QX series at Infiniti which do sell in large quantities and are RWD.

I absolutely loved my old 370z, so sexy with great curves but I had to sell it to get a car with a backseat.....I stayed in the Nissan Family:) I do feel however that it's time for a new Z, this thing is so long in the tooth!

I owned a 350z for years before going to a 335i. I missed the simplicity of my Nissan and being able easily do maintenance on it. So I recently ditched the bmw and got a q60. Love what Nissan/Infiniti have done.

These are like the powerlifters of muscle cars - more chubby than muscular. I used to love them, but they look so stocky in person.

The seats you gush over are not what they seem. The seat portion is a standard Z seat. Only the back is custom or specialized. The info window on the left that you wrote off as not seeming to give much information is much more than you realized. It can be used to call up everything from maintenance due, Average MPH, MPG and miles to empty to just name of few things. My 370z (no, not a Nismo) has a noise cancelling system built into the cockpit. The Nismo you are driving must be lacking such a system or has been disabled. I can still hear your banal droning voice. This is simply the worst review I have EVER seen. We come away wondering if you were wearing rubber pants.

This car was the most fun to drive . I owned two r35 gtr, two supras mk 5, and an n sport 370z. Off the mark no where as quick as the supra or gtr but at 220 kmh it was steady as a rock. The suspension as very solid aswell.

One of the last raw, connected sports cars. It's great fun for the money used. My tuned Audi TTS is much faster and more capable, but if I'm honest, not as much fun.

Mother of god that radio install is horrible. Didn’t even run the gps antenna, or mount the radio correctly. Loose usb....all that money for a Nismo but can’t pay $100 for a decent install. Smh

You know my camaro has 320hp and is 6 speed and can light up 275s with no problem....you can't light them up cause you have no torque

Id rather own this than a camaro, mustang or challenger because first of all its not 4,000 pounds. Second, It has a nicer interior than the Camaro and i can see out of it. And im just bored of the mustang idk it would handle better than a stock mustang.

Absofinglutely! This reviewer has ruined my life. This my third Z (over the years) previous two were the body style when they were larger and heavier and my had T-Tops!!!! Worthless of the effort in Florida with our rain. If you had a passenger you taught them to handle one of tops so you wouldn't flood the car. Now this little prick. I thought I liked my 2016 Sport/Tech version. and finally how in the hell could spend this kind of money and not get a Nav system? You really are a cheap bastard. They are practically a give away now adays.

Base 370z is a piece of shit why we don't sell it down under , no one would buy it with shit brakes , 18 inch mags and no brembos ' cloth trim

I love the Nismo Z's. Especially the 370. I've driven one and to me it was SO FAST. Also has the greatest sounding exhaust I habe ever heard other than a V10 lambo. To each their own. They just ride too rough to be a daily for an old guy like me.

Best looking Nismo Z are the 2012-2014. Nissan really need to bring the next gen Z with the q60 engine
The issue is the price. For this money you can easily buy an "American" car with more power, faster 1/4 mile times, faster road course times, more interior room, better fuel economy, and better safety. The Nissan 370Z is another car like the Kia Stinger...it makes zero sense. The only reason to buy one is if you just absolutely love that look.
@1tokeover6 жыл бұрын
That's why you don't buy a brand new one because they are the same as the 2009-2010.

Great review as always Matt. I have had two Z's and they truly are great cars with rock solid reliability. I never drove the Nismo version but from the looks/sounds of it, seems like an awesome car. Might have to pick one of these up!
