The automatic transmission on this thing blew me away. I was with my mom while she was test driving a car and decided to take a look at an automatic 2010 370Z they had on the lot (no manuals) I figured I could get a feel for it. Then when I got in I noticed the paddle shifters and wow are they fun. Have been saving for a c6 vette but damn..I might get that 370z just for that amazing transmission.

Mike. Great job on going through all the buttons and switches. I'm considering purchasing one of these cars. I'm a die hard Pontiac fan, but the good ole Formula needs an upgrade. I saw the 370Z at the Chicago Auto Show and I was hooked. I've sent the Pontiac to live down in salt free Georgia with my oldest. It's Dad's turn for a new toy. I've watched numerous videos on this vehicle and yours is the most in depth. I appreciate the effort it took putting it up on KZbin.

Cristian Guerra takes money to build auto and manual. Most people prefer auto. Faster shifting compare to manual. Saves gas too. Thats what I think LOL
@-Cristian_12
@-Cristian_12 9 жыл бұрын
+iTsNevin i don't think so man, just to buy an automatic you have to pay a fee over the standard manual transmission , and about the gas i think you could save a little more with the manual but i think is good they have both options so people can choose but for a car like that i go with the manual
@iSOBigD
@iSOBigD 9 жыл бұрын
Cristian Guerra Everyone online says they go with Manual, but most drive manual shitboxes like Sentras or old Civics. Actual buyers of these cars get the Automatic 9 out of 10 times, that's why manufacturers makes less and less manuals. Not to mention in terms of performance, they're simply faster shifting so anyone who wants it to actually max out the performance has to use paddle shifters or manual.
@-Cristian_12
@-Cristian_12 9 жыл бұрын
+iSOBigD manufacturers don't sell family sedans with manuals because most of the drivers are woman or old people they don't want to deal with a clutch in traffic and I totally agree with them, but sport cars are diferents, and in a M3, porshe or some of the dual clutch cars yes are faster but the normal automatics cars are not going to deliver equal performance or fun as a manual, even in a 350z the differential gears are diferents in auto and stick so the auto feel slower and it's. and now everyone is talking about performance but what about to have fun driving stick shift

I commented on your last 370z video and I realized watching this video and the last one they're literally the exact same thing. YES the cars are practically the same, but the 2016 comes with Bose noise canceling. You should really go more into depth about the car, take it for a test drive, and see how it performs rather than just sit in the car with your camera and point out the obvious. Again you gotta do your research. I understand this is an automatic car, but I'd warn those enthusiast who get a 370z manual that they're known for having the clutch slip quite often. Along with not having the tech package you don't have a rear backup camera and that car has very little rear vision. You literally just point out the obvious, but what makes a good car reviewer is one that really critiques the car. I personally disagree with the Bose noise canceling and the fact that they inject sound into the car. I want people to hear my car as much as I hear my car. Not I think my car is loud when reality it's just my speakers. Cool, you can point out the type of material the doors are made out of and the function of the buttons. Any human being who's driven a car can do that. Yes you have the nismo with no tech package, but just go look up what the tech package looks like and mention that the space above the radio is where the tech package would be if someone decided they wanted it.

Hi Justin! Thanks again for your feedback. I try to avoid the term 'review' because it provokes a wide variety of expectations. My videos are intended to be a fun and positive look at a car in detail... usually targeted to people who haven't seen this particular car before. Some people expect car reviews to contain subjective complaints and negative comments about the car... I refuse to add to the massive amount of negativity already being dished out in other "reviews" and in the comments. I personally think that to use the term 'review' a person should have some long-term experience with a product. Adding personal complaints and talking about features that the car doesn't have is not really what I want to do. It is a good thing that there are a huge variety of videos online for people to choose from because it is impossible for one to be all-inclusive.

Variable Valve Timing on Nissan came out in the 1980s. The Z31 had it. I think it came out in 1987. It's not new high tech stuff. It's 80s technology. And the Holy Trinity is called a strut tower brace.

I own a 2009 sports package z, under 50k and love it, I actually bought it used but I must say the nismo is a little overpriced for what you're getting, the car itself is beautiful interior and exterior, but it would have been cool if the engine had a turbo or at least 400 plus to make it worth the money, again that's just my opinion but you can get a non nismo z and do much more to it than you would spend on a nismo .beautiful car tho
@VerisimilitudeDude
@VerisimilitudeDude 9 жыл бұрын
oldhpirs4 Exactly. You could install a Stillen supercharger kit for about $7600, and that includes the installation. For the price of a Nismo, you could get way more performance for the money. For the price of a new Nismo Z, you can get a pretty decked out 5.0 Mustang. The new ones look pretty nice and are quite fast.

Latin Lover He said *under* 50k. But he should have been more specific, since the Nismo Z starts at around $41k I believe. And what do you mean a "real" sports car? The Nismo Z could probably beat the M4 on the track or at least come close.

Latin Lover Um no it's not. The Nismo version is. The Z starts at just over $30k. I own one, so I should know that it's one of the best sports cars for the money around. I've beaten a lot of cars that were more powerful and more expensive than mine. I'd say it's a performance bargain.

Well if it was all about performance then there would be no deck at all weight reduction.. I have been in a chevy sonic rental car that has a touch screen in it witch a back up camera and all the bells and whistles in the center console... And that car brand new is about 15 to 18 grand. I can choose auto or manual, both have Rev matching in sports mode. navigation, 4 different colors. nothing else I can think of that's missing from that one. However that infiniti q60 is dropping this summer, 400 horses 350 torque and the steering is digital. a lot more tech. Just may wait. The nismo is great however, kills many 2016 v8's.

My friends have had bad experiences with overheating front brakes. They say the car doesn't vent heat away that well on stock 370z. I know cross-drilled race rotors would help, but its probably a design issue. Plus who doesn't love AWD off a 4-banger!!!

+relift I still hate that thay made this version of the car with an automatic option. It takes away from the car. There should be no transmission option for the Nismo imho. If you want an automatic Z, stick with the non-Nismo version . If you want the Nismo, learn to drive a stick.

+Mike Lim Just like you, I had initially wondered why such a huge price difference for 18-20 more HP and a body kit. But after a bit more research, and actually driving both versions, there's actually a lot of value in the Nismo. If you were to price every individual part to convert a base 370z to Nismo, considering OEM Body kit (not the cheap fiberglass crap), Blackened Headlights, DRL LEDs (they're different from base), Custom Recaro Seats, Exhaust, Sports Tuning, illuminated Kickplates, Wheels and Sports Tires, Paint and Labor and you're looking at around $12k to $17k in price difference. The low end assuming you get all the parts through cheaper connections like forums and ebay, whereas the higher price if you go full retail. This is also considering you won't get the Alcantara leather/suede setup around the doors and wheels, and believe me, those are nice. Having driven both, I can tell you that the Nismo tuned version handles tons better and is ready for track right off the lot. Also, for sports car enthusiasts, the Nismo brand is well respected which also helps the car retain the value much better. So when you consider everything, the value is there. Certainly not for everyone though. Me personally, I love it and well worth the difference.

Got_Logic? That's a really good point that I never considered. I only thought of it from a performance standpoint. If I spent 12-17K on after-market performance upgrades, the Z would be way more powerful than a Nismo. That aside, I really do like the aesthetics from the Nismo Z...it looks absolutely gorgeous. I would be ok driving a fake Nismo haha (stock Z with nismo body). I plan on modding my future Z so I'll probably be going with stock sport (+ maybe touring).
@got_logic1320
@got_logic1320 8 жыл бұрын
Oh I agree. If you specifically want performance, 12k -17k to supercharge, new suspension, get the Aero kit, and some decent bucket seats and you'll give the Nismo a run for the money. If you decide to go "fake Nismo", just keep in mind the extra cost with the Blackened Headlights and the DRL LEDs to fit. Those 4 pieces alone is almost $4k. The OEM body kit from Z1Motors by itself isn't as expensive as those lights, lol. I'm personally not huge on the modding, and I'm a collecter and wanted to get the last year of the Z Nismo before they completely change the model, for better or worse. Don't get me wrong, the Z Nismo is absolutely not practical for the price. It's really a premium for the brand, which is well respected. And like you, I really like the body kit direction they took with this Nismo version. Anyway, good luck on your Z choices. I would personally suggest to consider going at least Sport, and mod from there. You do get some pretty good bang for your bucks at that difference between base and sport. Consider the 19" wheels, tires, Limited-slip dif, sports brakes, and Synchro Rev match (it's pretty useful, and can be turned off if you prefer). A few more grand for all that is actually pretty decent value. Tis my humble opinion anyway. With Touring, it's mainly for the heated seats, if that's your thing, and the Nav system (but sports tech gets you that too). Personally, whether you use the Nav or not, it makes the interior look MUCH better than that odd center compartment and cheaper looking radio. I also love the backup cam given the major blind spots. Just my 2 cents.

Got_Logic? Yeah, I've heard the Nismo suspension would be horrible for daily driving. Are the lights different for the Nismo? And yes, the non-tech looks horrible....looks like a radio system from 1980 aha

I use mine for Daily driving, and personally it's just something to get use to. If you're used to a very comfy smooth ride from luxury cars (I use to drive an Acura TL with all the added features) then yes, you'll notice it to be a much more bumpier ride. But I got bored of the luxury automatic setting, which prompted me for a funner vehicle. While you feel the road a bit more, I personally also feel like you're more connected to the road, and it has excellent grip and handling. The fun factor and head turning makes up for the somewhat bumpier ride, lol. I've gotten use to it so it's really no big deal for me. The Nismo has Blackened headlights, but other than that, it's the same model headlight. So if you don't care for the blackened headlights, then that's $2k less you have to concern yourself with. Personally, the blackened headlights adds a bit more aggressiveness to the Nismo style. Very noticeable. But the DRL LEDs are different between the base and Nismo. You can't just take a base's DRL LED and flip them on the side to fit the Nismo Front bumper. You need to order DRL LEDs specific to fit it. If you order the Nismo Front fascia, make sure you order the Entire "kit" as there's multiple parts to the Front. When you're at the dealership, go for a test drive on the Nismo as well. Get a feel for yourself to get some perspective. You don't have to buy it of course, just tell them you're looking into the various trims, so go test them all out while you're there.

CSC in my 370z went out for the second time in 40k miles. Warranty is refusing to cover it. Is there anything you can do to help us? Literally thousands of 370 and G37 owners have this problem, and Nissan refuses to address it. Even Nismo owners are having theirs blow up with as little as 1200 miles. I'm paying 1800 out of pocket for them to install the same bullshit part. I can't believe there's no recall.

Lehightonian It's an internal slave cylinder that explodes, and covers your clutch in hydraulic fluid, so Nissan can steal $3000 dollars from their costumers every 20k miles.

@stayathome2 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I knew Nissan used these, but didn't recognize the acronym. A poor design for sure, but I've gotten 150K plus before I've had hydraulic leaks (Toyota and Mazda). I was looking at this car but it's getting a little long in the tooth and I'd figure I'd wait to see if/when a redesigned Z appears. Hopefully with a more robust and accessible slave cylinder.
@SpacemanXC
@SpacemanXC 7 жыл бұрын
Lehightonian It really sucks because it's such an amazing car, otherwise. Fortunately I have the option of buying an external slave kit, and a new heavy duty master cylinder. I'll end up with a bullet proof drive train, but I shouldn't have to do this on a daily driver. It's just ridiculous. Keep in mind, the flappy paddle automatic brigade doesn't have this problem. So if you're not keen on a manual, it's still a great option.
