incredible, Cadillac really has taken the segment by storm, to think just 10 years ago Cadillac was miles behind in every aspect, now they are right in line with performance, quality, Luxury, and features, their interior is better than anything from Infiniti, Lexus, Acura, or Lincoln, but they just have to put a bit more in the interior (not much more) and they could easily be tops in the segment.
@CadexLaw8 жыл бұрын
umm...We are looking at the same car right?
@VanillaCracker8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go as far to say as the interior has gotten better. The interior is still shit imo. I will whole heartedly agree with their performance though!
@Red_OhFour8 жыл бұрын
How is this interior bad at all?
@VanillaCracker8 жыл бұрын
Red_OhFour Design is subjective (even though I don't like this design) so that doesn't count. What is not subjective is making everything capacitive. Capacitive buttons in a car to begin with is a terrible idea. All glossy plastic is an even worse idea. Steering wheel button layout is obtrusive to holding the wheel in prime spot of 9 and 3. Placement of cubbies is not well thought out (main one is literally right in front of the stick). Nitpicks; gauge cluster looks pretty shit (upgradeable), Nav/screen system is mediocre compared to japanese and german competitors (never been an american strongpoint), turning signals and paddle shifters are both piss poor and turn signals are the same from the chevy malibu. When it comes to the design, the word disjointed comes to mind. Never liked American cars for their interior - it bothers me a bit, but if you ignore that aspect; the car has more character than any other car in it's class, on the roads nowadays.
@Red_OhFour8 жыл бұрын
VanillaCracker I thought it looked nice but I also don't like the capacitive touch. I feel like it could easily fail. To you, would those drawbacks be big enough to keep you from buying one?

RR Wraith, M3 Competition Pack, Golf R, CTS V, GT350! Keep em coming! Friendly suggestion: Why don't you sit down and find a few new phrases that help describe the cars better so viewers can differentiate between a fast car and a super fast car, or a comfortable car, a stiff subtle car, and a stiff harsh car, or a punchy engine etc etc. The reason I recommend writing things down is because most great car journalists (Tiff Needell, Chris Harris, Jeremy Clarkson, etc) were all magazine journalists and wrote a shit-ton of reviews before standing in front of a camera. I reckon it would help reduce video length a bit while also being more professional and drastically improving quality, and trust me that will definitely put you above other KZbinrs. You've come this far, you can do it!

From what a recall the biggest complaint when this car got released two years ago was the Vue system and the slow haptic feedback. I'm glad to hear it has gotten better, but this was actually one of the things that made me look elsewhere at the time. I love the looks of the car, and actually prefer this engine to the LT1 in the Corvette/Camaro for it's tuning potential and not losing as much power at altitude. Thanks for the review.

The analog portion isn't great but like I said the digital portion is very nice, and the fact that Cadillac gives you things like a boost gauge that the M3 doesn't offer with all it's electronics is why the ATS-V has an edge with it's gauges.

The gauge cluster is very underwhelming and plain looking for a car that costs as much as this one does. Flat font with no 3D character that looks like it is out of a Pontiac sunfire, standard gauge needles that continue to do the annoying super slow motion sweep, and an LCD that hardly looks integrated (like it is just cut out of the cluster face without any smooth transition). Also those massive turn signal arrows just seem out of place. As an owner you will be looking at this gauge cluster area often and you would want it to continue to impress you every time you glance down at it. My wife's 2011 TSX has a more appealing gauge design than this with its floating needles, LED glow, 3D look etc. and it's a pretty inexpensive car! I'm just picky maybe.
@coureurdebois8 жыл бұрын
well there is a small LCD screen with 3d graphics so part of your rant is moot, but i agree they should do an all digital display... but the BMW M3 is also an offender in this issue with the gauges... with that said the interior of the ATSV blows every thing from Acua, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Lexus away. good try though.
@1in7.8b8 жыл бұрын
justin bouche An all LCD display would be cool, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to make this look a little more premium for the potential buyer. They can give you that special feeling when looking at the cluster with a more elegant design. Look at some of the other manufacturer's clusters, some of them are quite beautiful! I was only talking about the cluster and never mentioned anything else about the car so not sure why you brought that up haha, but yes I agree without a doubt the rest of that interior is gorgeous.
@coureurdebois8 жыл бұрын
i was just pointing out that I AGREE about the cluster, but i can forgive it for the interior being quite good for the price being a good 5K less than a similarly equipped M3. well the M3 gauges also suffer from the boring / meh issue, i would love a half digital or full digital display. something like the LFA gauges would be cool.

The LM series blizzaks are performance winter tires so in temps under 40 deg f or so, they will have more grip than a summer or all season tire.
@MattMaranMotoring8 жыл бұрын
I had the LM32s on the Legacy GT for years. They are good for snow tires but still don't have even half the grip that summer tires do in the summer.
@heeltoe68458 жыл бұрын
In warm temps yes. I was speaking about cold temps. Last night I was driving in 35 deg weather with my hankook rs-3s (200tw autox oriented tire) and I could trigger abs with about half pedal pressure. Summer tires have no grip in cold temps (obviously) which is where the lm series comes in. Performance in cold temps, though the term performance is relative of course.

Great video. I got a 2016 ATS-V Coupe a couple of months ago and seriously couldn't be happier with it. The car is amazing, comfy, fast... and as you said you rarely see another ATS-V coming the other way on the road. I get even better gas mileage though; 21.6mpg lifetime average so far, though that might change when I get my winter tires on. I do also agree about the exhaust. It's good, but not great. There are some aftermarket downpipes that seem to improve the sound while retaining the adjustability of stock... we'll see how that goes. Oh, and the PDR problem is the SD card. I had this problem at first and after replacing with a better SD card, the problem completely vanished. Keep up the awesome reviews, Matt. Been watching your vids for a while now and have been hoping you would get to the ATS-V.

subaruwrxfan I will say I think the ATS-V would be better with an LT1 too. But the LF4 does actually have more power and torque than the LT1, and because it has turbos it's super, ridiculously easy to get it up to 500+ at the wheels. It just doesn't have that V8 sound.

Vernon Price I have driven LT1 cars and this ATS-V with the turbo 6, and I just have to say the LT1 is a far more fun experience overall. HP numbers are secondary to the driving experience. GM's wheelhouse is the small block V8 and the ATS platform deserves one.

love the car! the only bad thing is the gauge cluster could've been designed a little better😞

I want one sooo bad! Realistically probably will end up with just an ats 3.6 non v but if the right deal comes up might b able to swing a used v with low miles. Awesome car!!!
