Check this out! 301 Horse Power for sub 15K? Count me in! Welcome to my first ever car review and it is on my 2017 Chevy Equinox LT with the potent 3.6 Direct Injected V6. Maybe you know or maybe you don’t know that this entry level SUV more often than not comes with the standard, boring, gutless 2.4 4cyl engine but there is an awesome option to get this 3.6 V6 that we have here. This is a detuned version that is in the Chevrolet Camaro, pretty cool! I made this video mainly highlighting this much better engine choice but I do get into other nice features that this SUV has like NAV, BU camera, sound, and other notable options. I know I missed talking about a few key things like how much more fun this thing is to drive with this engine, it actually puts a smile on my face and I never thought I would say that about an Equinox. But also how well this engine/AWD SUV does in the snow, 4/5 stars for safety with airbags everywhere, and it also sounds so much better than the smaller engine, I wish there was an aftermarket exhaust for it. One complaint I do have is with the transmission, having all that extra power is great but it does seem that when pushed, the trans does not shift as fast or crisp as it should/could. I know this car is not meant to be some sort of performance machine like something you would get from an AMG or M Sport line but in my limited experience, I think this trans could be better. Oh and paddle shifters would have been an awesome option as well! Lastly, the mileage does suffer with this big engine. Like I said, I can get around 19mpg while running around town but that is also with very, very conservative driving. I do also know that many brands are getting great power with smaller engines and forced induction. Also being that not many people, if any, are looking at an Equinox from a performance aspect, most likely that is why they are now only offered with a 1.5T engine.
Below you will find the articles i referenced in my video, check them out for mote detailed info on this little SUV!
UPDATE!!! I ended up selling this car to Carmax for the simplicity and decent offer they gave me. I didn't really want to let it go for $14,000 but I was not getting any decent offers trying to sell it on my own. It was a great car and do recommend!
