I’ve had mine for 9 months now. I’ve tracked it and can confirm it’s a good drivers car (and I’ve raced bikes my entire life so I have high expectations 😉) More importantly, it puts a smile on my face every time I press that start button - and if that’s not the sign of a good “drivers car” I don’t know what is.

I feel this is one of the rare times when an automotive manufacturer puts a prototype car into production, similar to the the BMW i8, Fisker Karma, Plymouth Prowler, and just a few others. However, while all the other cars mentioned were simply impractical, with a high emphasis on form over function, this car couldn't be any further from that trend. Somehow, the masterminds over at Lexus have engineered a masterpiece : a concept car for the road that is practical to use, ridiculously reliable, and priced reasonably for the market. If I had to pick one car to buy new, it would hands down be the LC 500

Josef Griveas Which isn't even out yet and we really don't know much about My point was there was cars just as fast for much cheaper, nothing really stands out as crazy about the lc500. Great overall package but for The money I'd grab a 911 or f-type etc.

This is a luxury grand tourer, not a performance car like an M5.

+little123456788 - True but entry level luxury cars like the 440i, Q60, S4 all offer about the same performance, are mainly GT cars and cost about $50-60K less than this. I don't think a V8 engine and a stepped up interior is worth that cost difference. Hell I'd pocket 20-30K and snag a RC F over something like thee LC 500, same motor slightly worse interior and bit rougher ride.

Not if you factor 100%+ price difference. Big, fast, beautiful GT with a great engine. If you squint real hard they aren't that different (and DB11 just got a V8 version as well)

132 Hp is a HUGE difference and the it weighs more. The lexus has the quality of the db11 interior but much more practicality in the sees that the db11 is more of a Met gala or fancy dinner car, while the lexus won't make your wallet feel guilty if something happens to it

Once you factor depreciation and maintenance it’s about 1/3 the cost of a DB11.

Matt Doyle Be honest. If you had money to afford both, you'd be mad not to opt for the DB11. Aston is attempting to copy tesla maintenance method. They cover maintenance for a set amount of years. They'll pick up your car for service and leave you a loaner car and you never leave your driveway. That's customer service right there.For their Prefered Customers/New model aston owners

It looks like what Lexus was trying accomplish is make a Grand Tourer, but much more fun and exciting to look at/use than a 6-series coupe, for example. Make it sexier, sound better, more fun to be around. Mission accomplished!

I watch your reviews because I am also 5'9" like you, but I am a bigger guy, even when I was in the Marine Corp at 183. I have found that for me most all Japaneses made sport car the seats are not wide enough for me and the passenger seat in the 2015 to 17 Mustang is to tight for me. I enjoy all of your reviews!

13:24 Matt, actually it did not skip gears between 5th to 3rd, what happened is that u did it accidentally whats called a 'doubleclick' and by doing 'doubleclicks', that the gears went down faster :) ... i learned that trick from my old honda accord paddle shifters lol :) ..great review glad 2 c u driving the new lexus lc 500! chris

Slaxl Time its not too bad it’s 150-200 heavier than the Challenger/Chargers with better comfort and refinement I honestly wished Lexus made the max torque at around 3400-4000 rather than nearly 5000 rpm it’s luxury GT car not a sports car.

I don't know why matt marran is underrated or not appreciated! take Doug Demeuro for example! he does review well but he doesn't show excitement as Matt Marran and Matt reviews as a pro journalist like the way it automatically downshifts. Apple Car Play is NOW AVAILABLE at Lexus Dealerships. It runs $199.95. To use it you need to plug your iPhone into the USB Port in the center console. It includes all the Apply Car Play apps plus Google Maps and WAZE. With Google Maps and WAZE you can use the SATELLITE VIEW meaning you'll see what the satellites see....the real Earth, not map drawings. It's pretty cool.
