We got a 19 Limited with the Hemi and other than the BS FCA sales experience, love it. We got 24 mpg on a 3,000 mile round trip to Florida, A/C running and 4 people and luggage packed up to the max. Not bad for a 360 HP beast.

Those wheels were also available in 2018, and are called the Heritage wheel. The were to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grand Cherokee. The 1993 Grand Cherokee limited has a similar 15" snowflake wheel. To celebrate 80 years of the family business, my dad bought a 2018 trackhawk and I bought his 2013 5.7L overland. As an XJ and SJ chassis jeep pureist, I was hesitant when these went full independent suspension, but the build quality is fantastic for the price, they are easy to work on and you can fit a 32" tire stock. The air suspension has also giving me no issues with 106k miles, and frankly I am amazed such a thing is available on a vehicle that cost well under $50k. Its sad that there is pretty much nothing american made in its class with a V8. I agree that it may go sooner than later. Just installed a Mopar intake, which looks way cool. REALLY want to find a set of those wheels next.

@ Apex Reviews - Being an "Overland" trim level, the mentioned "soft touch" materials on top of the door cards is actually "Leather", all upper level trims that have the upgraded leather (Overland/Summit) the dashboard, front door trims at the top & rear doors all have genuine leather, below that possibly soft touch materials.

SavageSalad Not if you live in Greece where gasoline ( regular grade, mind you!) costs about $8,50/gallon (in US terms). I have a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated, built in the States for me and brought to Europe, where I do serious, though not extreme off-roading. At these prices and the performance of the JGC I get, I couldn't be happier. The diesel might be better IF I used the car more than six months of the year (the other six I spent here in the States, in Georgia, where I just got my 2020 JGC Trailhawk, 3.6 liter engine again) and put on a lot more miles to justify the extra purchase cost and urea treatment required; my "limited" mileage does not justify such a purchase...nor do I tow anything ! I keep one Jeep there and one here. Great cars, never had any problems with my Overland!

Very well done review overall. Your overall knowledge and previous ownership of these Jeeps comes through in the review. Looking to get a 2019 SRT myself, and was curious to see how the ‘new’ center UConnect system looks. I like it. Would wait for the new WL next year but I won’t buy a first model year run from FCA. Hopefully after ~8 years they’ve got the WK2 squared away. lol

The last year of a generation is usually the best. they have fixed all of the problems they can and just make minor tweaks to make it as perfect as possible. That's the one to get if you are in the market for a used vehicle. Or, in this case, because we know this is the last year for the WK2, a good buy if you are in the market for a new vehicle. Also, make sure it is a "Thursday" car. :-)

I have owned 12 Grand Cherokees over twenty years. For the money and service they are the best that money can buy. The reason the front seats feel hard on long trips is because they have a cooling fan system in them at the Overland, SRT, and Trackhawk trim levels. The cheaper models don't have cooled seats and thus they may feel softer.

Good overall review for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Overland trim. It's agreeable that it has aged well from the 2011 model year to the 2019 model year. Technically based on Jeep's history for change in design schematics from one generation to the next, they usually let a generation last 5 or 6 years before a new generation change steps in. That wasn't the case this time, but it's ok. The vehicle still looks attractive, rugged and is dominating sales. I think the reason why the front seats still maintain the firmness after a while is due to the fact that they are heated/ventilated seats. A different setup than the seats that are only heated. It was during the 2018 model year Jeep decided to ditch the mounted flashlight in the cargo area. I think they kicked the flashlight to the curb for the reason mentioned in the video and another reason could be due to the fact that flashlights are on our smartphones. Like what was mentioned in the video, the infotainment system is one of the best in the market. Based on information I got from couple sources several months ago it's definitely in the top 10 or top 5. The 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine is great. Last year I test drove a Grand Cherokee with the Limited trim that has the same HEMI V8 engine and it moves. Excellent acceleration. I currently have the last generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2005 model with the 4.7 liter V8 engine. The WK body style which lasted from 2005 to 2010. What I noticed immediately when I test drove the one last year is a difference in shifting from one gear to the next. The shifting in the current generation Grand Cherokee vehicles is a lot quicker, smoother and has a more continuous motion than mine. Basically, a night and day difference. I have intentions on getting the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think it'll be introduced next year in 2019 for the 2020 model year. It should be great. Based on pieces of information I got from couple sources, the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will finally get 3rd row seating. In general the 3rd row seating was originally rumored for the WK body style (2005 to 2010) Grand Cherokees and didn't become a reality. The 3rd row seating was rumored for the current generation Grand Cherokees, but it also didn't become a reality. Having the 3rd row seating appear in the upcoming 5th generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is well overdue and should be good.

Excellent comment Jeff! You seem to be quite the encyclopedia on the WK2. I actually owned a 2005 Grand Cherokee as well! It was an great SUV and never gave me a lick of trouble. In certain trims, I enjoy the rear 3/4 view of the WK more than the WK2. I believe it’s due to the placement of the belt line and angle of the roof giving it a slightly more athletic look. I hope they keep up the good work on the next gen! I’m eagerly awaiting the announcement. Regards, Chad
@jefferybaxter1225
@jefferybaxter1225 5 жыл бұрын
@@ApexReviewsOfficial Hi Chad. Thanks for responding. That's good that you also owned a WK body style Jeep Grand Cherokee. At the time when you had yours did it have the V6 engine, 4.7 liter V8 or the 5.7 liter V8? Like what I mentioned in my initial post the WK body style Jeep Grand Cherokee is what I have now. I got it as a used vehicle few years ago back in 2014. Before I got it my initial intent was to get the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 model. Things didn't go as planned and I ended up getting the one with the 4.7 liter V8. It's powerful, but not as powerful like the HEMI V8. The WK HEMI V8 came with 330 HP and 360 TQ while the 4.7 liter V8 came with 235 HP and 305 TQ. One thing for sure I wasn't getting the one with the V6 which had lower performance numbers. The current generation Jeep Grand Cherokee with the HEMI V8 as you already know has higher numbers at 360 HP and 390 TQ. If Jeep continues on the same incremental performance increase for the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, maybe that HEMI V8 engine will come with 390 HP and 420 TQ. That would be great! Like what you said I'm also waiting for the announcement for the next generation Grand Cherokee. Besides the 3rd row seating, I hope the next generation will come equipped with forward collision detection, surround view camera, couple more autonomous features, heated/ventilated rear seats, power folding seats, foot activated lift gate and locking/unlocking doors via smartphone. Hopefully, Jeep will have intentions on including those features, but let's see what happens when the time comes. Regards, Jeffery

Thanks for watching Savage. I agree on your point on the wheels. I believe they're doing the same with the "Limited X" model by using the extra SRT hoods. The problem with this approach is the customer that paid for a somewhat unique model loses the exclustivity they paid for a year prior.

I had 22 seating positions in them but could never find a comfortable setting. I had pain all the way on a long drive.... never with Jeep. Only complaint I have is the Pearl White paint. The trim around the tires is not the same color as the rest of car; slightly different. I think the trim pieces are painted with a different sprayer.

You'll probably see a slight difference on every color. The issue is that when you paint two different materials with the same paint it will always have a slightly different effect. For example, painting wood, plastic and metal will all have different ways they react/absorb the paint even if its the same paint.

Leather seats: I have a 2017 Limited. 30k miles. The drivers set is showing age. No splits or cracks, but I’m afraid that it will. At just 3 years old I don’t think it should be showing this kind of age. Some would just say that it has that patina that leather gets, but it’s starting to look as if it’s wearing thin I places. Very nice job, but here is my problem with FCA(and I'm an employee). I would only consider the Hemi V8 which puts me at Limited or higher trim option. We went shopping at the end of 2018 as we had large employee discounts. I could get a new 2018 limited($42k msrp) for $32K with all the discounts, not bad, but V6, the only Hemi they could find was a 2019 Overland at around $48K. We keep our vehicles till they die so the model year is not important(not much change for 2019 anyway) but I'm not going to spend over $15,000 to get a Hemi, sorry FCA.

Be ready for your Leather Dash to start peeling back. I have a 2013 overland, they've replaced it twice. Both times it peeled back. They've had 1000s and 1000s of claims on it. I would have opted for a Trailhawk or other edition to avoid that dash. That's exactly what we did. Now we have the 13 overland and an 18 trailhawk. As for the 19s being the last year, that's not true. They are going to run this platform through at least 2021. The leather seats lasted just fine. I have 156K miles on mine..they look new Here's a link to the Jeep Road map to future builds. You will see no change for Grands until 2022 www.motor1.com/news/243715/jeep-2018-2022-roadmap-revealed/

J P There’s a button in the car to turn it off, but you have to remember to push every time you start the car back up after leaving it. It’s a pain in the butt, my bmw has it and it’s annoying. I’ve heard that some places aren’t allowed to bypass it in the shops because it’s there to restrict emission levels/and or save gas. but it defeats the purpose if you have a button to turn it off every time.

Thanks for the info, its a bad set up because it will put more wear and tear on the engine. Now the dealer will lie and say it saves gas. I am like you jacqlyn its bullshit, we should be able to turn it off in the ECM!

Thanks for all the V8 folks commenting that you love the engine. I have a 2015 V6 Summit...best car I have ever owned but need more towing power. What is your real-world gas mileage with the cylinder deactivation? Do the 2018's have altitude display. I LOVE that option. Lastly, any diesel owners care to comment on their car? I did find it interesting that if you build a 2019 GC on the jeep site they aren't giving diesel as an optional engine. Do they have too many 2018's left over?

Hey Patrick, thank you for watching! While I do believe that was the case in some prior models, this is in fact a light that shines down for ambient lighting at night. I've personally owned two of the 2011+ Grand Cherokee's and both of them had the same lighting. Below are a couple photos I took to show the light both emitting from the hole and also shining down on the center console. If I were to take my hand and put it a few inches away from the light, I would have what appears to be a small "pen" light beam shining on it. and yet another dumb reviewer. right at the beginning.... the High Altitude is simply a trimmed-out Limited trim not a level in between Overland and Summit. The HA doesn't have some features the overland has like the upgraded headlights, dual exhaust, etc.
@ApexReviewsOfficial
@ApexReviewsOfficial 5 жыл бұрын
C-Wow, I would try a more personable approach with people, it would probably go further. Yes, the standard Altitude is a essentially a "blacked-out" Limited. The HA however, does fall between the Overland and Summit. If anything it's more Summit than Overland since it has all of the same fascia over the Summit. It does have the LED lighting, dual exhaust and optional 5.7L engine and Harmon/Kardon sound. Please see the links below to validate my statement on where the High Altitude (HA) was position in the line-up. I don't normally respond back to comments such as yours, but I don't take personal attacks very kindly. If you have a differing opinions in the future, I try starting the conversation off on the right foot. Link to the video review of my High Altitude: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naile3-OoMirhM0 Window Sticker of my HA (Note, built on a Overland with the HA package): ibb.co/c6yQDp Screenshot of the Grand Cherokee Build and Price on Jeep's website. From here you'll see the HA falls directly between the two trims. ibb.co/cWPtzU

I appreciate your response as it's something I would certainly do. However, I don't have to be nice all the time. Please don't be feed to this world of superficial love. Have a good day.

You are incorrect about the HA version, I just bought one, it does in fact sit above the regular overland as far as trim level goes. Mine has more features then a Overland including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warring, park assist, same front bumper as Summit with LED/HID headlights/fog lights.
