I still considering going to Russia and pick one up "new" just for lols and keep for it the rest of my life. You can get it with this green scratch proof paint, would be awesome to have a bump and scratch proof vehicle. and you can always mod and improve it yourself, if you need something... There is a company in Germany that is known to upgrade the engine and some other stuff, I think Putin also sent his Niva to them for an upgrade. If you want more power, and not do the job yourself.

@rdwind77344 жыл бұрын
@@CumBrianFries I disagree. Engineering additional complexity is usually a bad thing, and is usually driven from a designer and customer service standpoint. If you want to get to the stars you need a few key things, the first and foremost being reliability. Changing out the volume knob for a graphical interface removed reliability in cars, as well as the ability to fix it if something went wrong. You need to be able to fix something in space if something goes wrong, you can't machine it in a shop and ship it back up, and astronauts can't be experts in every faculty. Complexity and reliability are almost always a trade off, you can't just say complexity is always superior. Complexity is necessary in some cases, but it has to be worth the drawbacks. There's a reason the KISS principle is so prevalent in software development.

I really like Lada, mostly the 2107 Kopeika. What I wanted to have as an off-road car was an AMG M12 LRV from Halo, made from scratch, on a 1980s Ford F-250 or F-350 Platform so I get that Independent Front Suspension and change the chassis to match the LRV Warthog, make it from scratch, forge custom tusks, have all the things in there to look as military as possible. Probably gonna use a Multi-Fuel engine from an APC as even though the Warthog sounds like its supercharged, it’s actually Hydrogen. So I will do that and a transmission would probably be the same or different depending on the size.

Great review! Great to find someone other then a Russian who reviews them (since they always glorify them) I kinda like the the whole idea behind modern Niva's, simple, old school, less luxury, more practicality. I've been thinking of actually buying one (I live in Sweden) and they are pretty cheep here as well, the only thing that really worries me thou is the lack of spare parts, Lada has never been really popular here, only Volvo and SAAB (the latter which i currently own) also a good car but too modern for me, i want a beast that can run trough harsh terrain and sadly all modern cars today are either built for city-driving or like the Jeep and Landrover, are both expensive as hell to buy and also chugs down fule like there's no tomorrow. With what you've said in mind, i think this Lada seems more like a good alternative for me, so thank you for your review!
@MasterCarsReview4 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam! Thanks for the feedback. I'm really glad you enjoyed the review. I totally get your point and you're right. Sometimes, all you need is a cheap, capable SUV that you just jump in and go, worry free. I agree that spare parts can sometimes be hard to find if the car isn't popular in your country, but there should be some dealer that imports. Plus, the Lada doesn't have much complicated parts and technology so I wouldn't be suprised if someone improvises on the 4x4, if you know what I mean. Thanks again for watching and let me know if you go for the 4x4! Have a nice day.

We have no problems with spare parts here in Latvia. Most parts like balljoints, brakepads and such can be bought in any car store. But we have like 3 stores that sell only lada parts here in Riga alone. i own a niva myself and im real happy that when you need something you can just go to the store and buy it. I needed throttle position sensor a while back, when to store, paid less than 5 euros for it. Plus you can get all the body panels you need. if you buy a new one thats not a problem, but since i own a 2001 model, its really good thing to have.

@@11guyinthechair well thats in Latvia, I live in Sweden and we only have two stores that sells Lada in the entire country. Lada has never been very populare here since we got Volvo and SAAB here and i love those cars as well, the older ones at least, i dont like the modern volvos.
@11guyinthechair4 жыл бұрын
@@Mumrik93 Thats too bad. I thought that ladas were more popular there. I would like to buy volvo v70 from early 2000s as a daily driver. But ive seen lots of rusted ones. there are some that are pretty good that are brought from Sweden or Germany. I really like old Saabs, 9000 has got to be my favorite. I really hate that GM made saab in to an opel basically.
@Mumrik934 жыл бұрын
@@11guyinthechair open with a few changes, but yeah, pretty much Opel. Ladas did apear in Sweden in the late 70s and early 80s, but they never cought on, we pretty much stuck to our Volvos and SAABs.. Which at that time i'm not surprised.. But nowadays i think a lot of people would enjoy the modern Niva (bronto), cheaper, easier to repair yourself, less needless technology (would like to see airbags and neckrests in the backseats added though) that just add to the price and make it impossible for regulare people to repair the car.

the video is nicely done, there is a lot you can improve in a technical aspect but you are doing well, try not to repeat phrases so much and i think at one moment the camera's lens was a bit dirty, also you have to admit that this car is really not a good option, I think the Dacia Duster is a lot better, modern, has maybe the same good things the Niva has and has a similar price, maybe in your country is a little more but must be a much better price/value ratio, I believe the Lada Niva is mostly for people that are way too nostalgic or for the ones maybe living in Rusia in very remote places where you can't find spare parts from any other car manufacturer except Lada, it would be good that for cars like this you researched where is sold the most and what practical use does it really have, even thou it looks very practical considering the price it may not be, also go a bit deeper, compare it in power, fuel consumption and price with other new cars, the warranty is also important to mention because if it's not good then is definetely better to get an used 4x4 (even just an older Niva since is gonna be just a tiny fraction of the price and mostly the same car) that is gonna be better and cheaper even if it's "older"

This engine was developed from FIAT engine of the 1960s. The only reasonable replacement is a cheap 1.2 - 1.5-liter turbodiesel.
@MasterCarsReview4 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! The engine is almost the same since day 1, and it's alright. But I think it could be replaced by a torquier engine which would make it a better choice and overall a better performer. (had to use a clinometer to know how far I can go, cause all your senses are already f*ucked when you see the dirt by you and not beneath). With proper offroad tyres you can go anywhere. This is made for real rough terrain and not for the asphalt. With this car you can go hunt bears to their caves. This kid is testing it like any other SUV and that's just wrong. As a person that lives in Russia since I was born, I should say that I’m really surprised to see such a positive review. Here, in Russia, you gotta be an idiot to buy any of lada’s. Except for the Soviet made ones because they’ve been a little better, but they all crumble fast. The main problem is a terribly unstable production quality. Even a 1990’s VW Passat/golf/anything else is much better than a brand new Lada. For example, my Passat B3 average cost is about $1000. It’s much more reliable and comfortable than ANY lada that cost $14000. Any old Skoda, VW, Audi, Ford, etc for $1000 will be better than a $14000 lada. Sometimes they can produce some better items. But it happens too rarely. Once or twice a year, maybe

I would like to own one, but even from this newer version all the reviews are horrible which I read, unreliable and getting rusty way too early
