This was a pretty interesting review Matt, its awesome to hear that the V6 lives on in this hybrid model! Its about as bulletproof as engines get these days with basic maintenance. You also read my mind with the comp to the CX-90 lol. Id love to see this hybrid combo be the drivetrain in the Sienna rather than what is currently available.

Fantastic proven engine and hybrid setup. Why such a higher cost premium for what is an “older” powertrain Lexus? Because this engine setup is *the* differentiator between TX and Grand Highlander?

Moonroofs are pointless. You can’t see it in the front row, it adds heat, noise, weight, cost, and reduces reliability. Not to mention the weight it adds is in the worst place. I’ve never had a rear seat passenger say “damn, I wish the sun was shining through the roof directly into my eyes!” I hate the glass roof in my car. I mean, maybe it would be nice in Iceland or something.

Long live the V6! They should've just tried to improve the efficiency of their V6 (dynamic force version, cylinder deactivation) and kept it in more hybrids.

Cylinder deactivation wears the engine out faster. But there are other ways like more speed on the transmission.

It is bad that they don't have panoramic moonroof for their top end with that price point. Also massage seats :)

Thanks! Yes, AC and heat both work in EV mode, but below 14 degrees fahrenheit the gas engine will turn on to help heat the cabin.

I used to love my V6s coming from Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti, however.. an inline 6 makes more sense to me.

That 400 pounds of extra weight for the plug in hybrids battery is where the pano roof and air suspension went. Any more weight and they'd have to make a full electric out of it! 🤣 I think Lexus has a winner here. The price is unfortunate but that's where the market is at.

My skepticism/concern comes with the CVT. Why didn't they just keep their solid 8 speed transmission paired with this almighty V6.!

Very nice car and review. But to the competitors...what about Lincoln Aviator? Is it not a competitor for TX? Not luxurious enough? What is your view on that.

Thanks! Aviator is a competitor if you can find a leftover 2024, and they didn’t make many of them. They dropped the plug-in hybrid for the 2025 model year. It also has a lot less electric range.

So the whole point of a plug-in hybrid is to save money on gas but the base tx350 starts at $55k. There is no way in hell I'm 10 years you can offset the price of this TX550 with the gas savings at the current gas prices of $3.30/Gallon...

@@keras_ some of the folks buying lexus are upgrading from camry and corolla or some other 4 cylinder car and can't understand that luxury cars take more fuel as most come with v6 or v8. Even 4 cyl with turbo are mainly lower emissions but the car still weighs a lot.

I wish Lexus would just stop it with that melted looking front end. The rear end looks amazingly sexy but the front looks like it came from a minivan. If the front had a linear front end headlight similar to the GX, this would be EXTEMELY attractive. But nooooo They’re probably thinking it might cannibalize sales from the GX since that one’s more expensive.

If I had to choose between spending 70K for a Telluride SX Prestige / Palisade Calligraphy and a TX500h, I’d quite simply get the telluride or palisade. Because even at $70K, they’re still superior to the TX and GH
