Nice review Matt. But really? Yes, perhaps the Genesis has lost a bit of its edge against the Germans in pricing, but you might argue the latest German products aren't very good anyway. And the Genesis will be more reliable than anything from Audi and Benz. Also, the Genesis brand was never meant to compete with its' lesser "premium" counterparts from Toyota and Ford, both of which are fwd architecture.

What makes the Germans product not very good? You have the reliability data for the GV80?
@johnholst3 ай бұрын
@@MercOne Well, to begin, the interiors on the German cars have taken a serious step backwards in terms of quality and fit and finish. BMW is still pretty good. But the Audi is all black screen. The Benz is half quality and half garbage. Newer Benz models also tend to creak a lot. CR and JDP says Genesis is better and far better than most in terms of reliability. Not to mention that no other car company has won more awards in the last 5 years than HMG. Oh, no other company makes more top safety models than HMG. It's a company going forward and the Germans are clearly not.
@MercOne3 ай бұрын
@@johnholst You didn't seem to understand what I said, the Germans substance is not just their interiors, unlike Genesis which is impressive as long as you don't look too deep. Now if you aren't able to understand that a car is more than leather and wood interiors, then sure Genesis will impress. The car underneath can't hold the German's beer. Uh, where is the GV80 on the JDP 3-year dependability study? Most of cars in the current survey are NOT the newest cars if you're talking about the 3 years dependability study. Car company awards don't mean shit man, you're not giving any areas where Genesis is superior. The Germans own the market and they've won awards before Genesis was thought of. You're going to have to come up with something else, because all that is weak as can be. A fancy leather interior is not all their is to substance. You don't know the true long term data for these cars yet and "HMG" is not known for long term quality either.

This interior design is so much better than the new BMW X5 and even the just announced Audi Q5.
@FeLiX13sLaVe3 ай бұрын
Well, it is a class above Q5, but I agree. The Germans have been throwing away the luxury details in their interiors in favor of screens screens and more screens. They have lost the substance.
@MercOne3 ай бұрын
@@FeLiX13sLaVe Completely wrong, the problem is that you think that leather and wood is "substance". Unlike the Germans, Genesis is increasingly impressing people who don't know any better, by leathering up their interiors while their engines, drivetrains, performance etc falls short. The GV80 Coupe was supposed to be performance version and it's anything but that. Their so called uplevel engine with the e-supercharger is a complete joke and adds nothing to the G90 or the GV80 Coupe. That said, this is still a nice vehicle, but just a pretty interior is not substance. Ask Jaguar they'll tell you.

I dont understand how any car maker can release a car with a laggy screen in 2024, yet so many still do. They want consumers to focus on the tech features and then give them a bad experience with the cars main interface. I've used cheap android tablets from 10 years ago that are more responsive.

Only one problem remains ......you have to go to the Hyundai dealers for service most places. There are hardly any stand alone genesis dealers to service as its very frustrating. My last trip to Doral Hyundai with my GV70 totally sucked as they did a fuel pump recall replacement and my car smelled like gasoline for 2 weeks after. This should be made know to everyone buying......your gonna be pissed that you don't get a premium experience spending all that money. My Acura was soooooo much better when it came to value/service. One more thing..... I do have concierge service where they will pick up/drop off from Genesis dealer an hour away. But would you trust an 19yr old porter to drive your car all that way not knowing if anything happened along the way. Yeah, me neither!

@naveenthemachine I agree that the GV80 (& most Genesis models in their respective classes) are super compelling options. However, just because they are good doesn't make their comparables from Lexus bad. They are not mutually exclusive. One day you're going to look back & be beyond embarrassed by how you've chosen to present yourself to this community for all of this time. There's not a person in any comment section you take part in that takes you seriously. I would say that I hope that you know that, but I know that you do.

@@sawyermartin4434 why should I be embarrassed? It’s not my fault that Lexus consistently overhypes and underwhelms in the real world If anything it’s all of you who should be embarrassed trying to accuse me of being a hater only to realize that the end result is truly mediocre and that you don’t acknowledge that the hater was right. The TX is a perfect case of this. I predicted it would be such a disappointment yet people like you on here said I’m crazy and that it’ll be amazing But once it came out I immediately saw everyone’s disappointment and I couldn’t help but celebrate 😁
