Yes it will, you can put tarp lower to if need to

Mine is the same size but i roll mine under once on each side helps to prevent water from rain running on top

Can you sit up in there to cook in the rain?

Had it low that day, but you could put it on a ridge line and do that

@@thenomadicjames3086 welcome, if I'm looking to cook under my tarp, I like using my square tarp. 8'6x8'6. So many tarp setups you can do

@@thenomadicjames3086 I have the bivy also but forgot where got it. only weighed 4.5 oz . I really like that tarp. Lightweight, of course my square tarp is only 8 oz with tieouts
