Thank you for the excellent review. I am about to buy a new dcc system and I am considering ESU. You have convinced me of the quality of it.

Great review; never had an issue with my older color Ecos with lower voltages; might have something to do with the way the power supply handles the US 110V/60hz vers the European 230V/50Hz maybe. I'm also surprised you have decoders that burned, sorry about that 🥲 Pretty much all N scale European decoders, even the older ones can at least handle 16V without any issue. I run at 15V because although many of my decoders handle 20/25 and sometimes even 35V, many of my engines have a 16V-max capacitor stay alive connected. As for automated registration of trains with RailComPlus, true, the default name appears when registered. But you can always just edit the name of the loco afterwards just like any other loco. It will stay that way because the Loco will not "register" again when you put in back on the track. You still save a lot of time by not adding the fns manually 😉Also (but I haven't tested this), precisely because Railcom allows advanced POM, I think you can just actually register your desired name back into the decoder without having to pull out the ESU LokProgrammer: just let the loco on the track, edit the name of the loco in the Ecos, and use the "track with arrow" button on the lower end of the panel, this should actually update the decoder on the fly. I'm personally back to my Ecos precisely because registration of all functions of new locos is so practical. It works for RailComPlus locos with ESU decoders, and also because I also activated M4 on the track, with the newest Mfx locos from Minitrix in Europe, and even models from Arnold or others with newer Zimo decoders (for the end user, Mfx registration works just as RailcomPlus, it just take a bit longer for the loco to be registered the 1st time).

Hi great review. If you go to "select" you will get a list of your locos on the left, on my unit there is also a number pad displayed on the right in this same page . On this number pad you can just punch in the number of any loco and it will be selected directly without having it in your library of locos. Cheers Paul

Can I use Trix locomotives on this device? They have MFX decoders and both trains I own were made in 2023.
