Thanks for the excellent video. A couple of quick questions: what is the highest wind you've had this up in with no guy wires? And what is the diameter of the base? You talk about using an insert in the CHA mast mount but I don't see mention of it in your notes. Where did you get that?

Actually, they were the "small" ones, which I just found out they don't sell anymore. The ones available now are just a little larger it seems.

Question. I am considering adding on the CHA NVIS antenna to my other Chameleon antennas in my radio go kit, but I was reading the manual for that antenna and it showed to set the antenna up at 15 feet off the ground. With this mast only being 12 foot tall, how does that affect the CHA NVIS antenna performance?

Since this is a question of design / performance, I would suggest you consult with Chameleon and ask them if the 12' height makes any difference. I am doing a video of this very set up right now, with the FG Mast. I can say that the antenna works, I just cant say if it works as intended with the height at 12' instead of 15'.

The 15’ height elevation indicated in the user guide is for the OPTIMAL configuration. Anything about 10’ will work with the CHA NVIS wire antenna kit.

Just checked, you're right. They are selling the topper separately that would work with a 1" fiberglass mast.

$300 for a 12ft mast? WOW! I used two chain link fence rails from Lowes and a jawmount to set up a mast. It's a lot cheaper and it feels good to come up with something on my own that works for me.

It will work but you won’t be able to setup a CHA NVIS antenna for dual bands 40M and 80M. It won’t help either to elevate a CHA MPAS or CHA TDL in an urban situation when surrounded by buildings.

The great thing about ham radio is all the options available. You can homespun on a budget to put up a basic stationery antenna; congrats on that. The CHA FG is a professionally made, highly versatile, portable, quick deploy, highly engineered, extraordinarily durable piece of gear which can quickly be adapted to a number of ham made or commercially available antennas from wire to vertical to delta loop to mag loop to ham stick to.....
