Thank you for this honest review. I especially appreciate how you played three different types of C-tuned kalimbas - it makes it easier to narrow down which of the similarly-tuned kalimbas I prefer. :)

Hi Dawn, absolutely love your video's. Your reviews and information about each Kalimba are terrific. I'm 63 years old and need something to help lift me out of this pandemic rut. Why not learn something new? I came across your video's and you've inspired me to try the Kalimba. I decided on the Lingting17 key A. its coming tomorrow!!!!! Thank you for your all information and lovely way you explain everything. ❤

Hello, and thanks so much for the video. Can you tune the K17P (B major) to G major, do you know by any chance?

Yeah, I don't like the chain either. I love your videos! I would love to see you review the April Yang kalimba. It's stunning.

Thank you for the comparison, it's very helpful! Will you be getting and showing us 34 key kalimbas in the future?

*The LT K17A and the Bolf sounded great. The tonality and the warmth is there. The acrylic Treelf sounds nce too, but its tinny and lacks warmth for me.*

I am torn between the K17A and K17P... As a first Kalimba, a C-tone is often recommended, but the B sounds so magical. Do you recommend either more for a newbie?

Not sure if this is still helpful after 3 months but you can always tune your kalimba to a different tone. So if you get a C for starters you can tune it to a B later, and vice versa. Als really depends whether you want to just play freestyle and enjoy the sounds or if you want to learn songs. Most common songs are in C. I have the C tone one and it's gorgeous. Sounds more magical in person than it does on video. I got a few different ones to try out and fell in love with the LingTing.

Late to the party, but what I learn about Ling Ting kalimbas in KZbin is that they're harder to tune due to the grooves underneath the tines (that most other kalimbas don't have). So it might be a good idea to buy a Ling Ting in the tuning you want instead of trying to change the tuning yourself. In my case I ordered the K17P. Actually, you can still use the B tuned kalimba to learn songs tuned in C because the scale is basically the same, just a pitch lower. My TREELF TF-17CAT kalimba suffered from several stiff tines. A workaround to solve this is to tune it lower, elongating the tines for easier resonance. I've changed the tuning from C to B Flat. No more stiff tines and I can play songs tuned in C no problem!

Do you like the A or C Better? Debating for my daughter between the 2 and I cannot choose!

Of these two, I like the A better. You can also decide by seeing what songs she likes to play and if the majority of those are more in the A or C key. And then, you can always retune it to whatever key you'd like. I can't decide either, that's why I have many kalimbas, in different keys. But I think my favorite are A and B.
