I bought this guitar in June last year. Totally new to guitar, this one just seemed peak my interest. I didn't even know you could turn off one of the coils. But like playing this guitar. It very nice and comfortable to play. Has some great sounds with Spark Go amp.

Lovely long detailed review, great work. I bought the DST100B (Donner Strat 100 in Black) a month ago. With coupon and during a sale I got it for £90….that’s with the full kit that you have, although it came with the later version 5 pot amp. I’m in my mid 50’s and returning to guitar playing after many years away…..honestly, I cannot believe the quality you get for your money from Donner compared to what I paid when I was starting to play back in the 80’s. Do not think twice about getting one of these if your a starter or returning to shredding. I also bought a NUX Mighty Plug….absolutely the best £50 I have ever spent….check it out if you you want the tone of David Gilmore, Angus Young or Kirt Hammet literally at the press of a button. Have fun and play guitar!

Thank you for watching and thanks for the question, hopefully I can help . . . If the Peavey Rockmaster is the one I've seen, the single humbucker pickup is quite limiting. Having 2 or 3 pickups on a guitar means you can change the sound to suite different styles of music more easily. But I don't know if they make a Peavey Rockmaster with several pickups . . 🤔

I noticed that the electric blue color way says “152R” and the sunburst says “152S” while the white says only “152”. What’s the difference between each letter. Does it change anything?

Good question . . the letter is just the colour or finish, the model of guitar is 152 😊😃

Excellent review, thanks. Impressive playing style too… I took your recommendation and received my 152 in late December last year and was initially awed by its out of the box appearance until I noticed the 6th string tone screw literally hanging from its hole, which was worrying. On investigation, I found the guitar was completely out of tune, with a nasty buzz on the 6th string. I suspected the truss rod adjustment but decided not to meddle with it. So, it hung on my lounge wall until last week, when I took it to a Luthier.

That's a shame, I'm glad mine didn't have any issues like that and is still working fine. I guess there's going to be bad ones and the only way of finding the ratio of good to bad would be to buy hundreds and see how many have issues 🤔

It was inevitable that electric guitars would improve and get more affordable simultaneously. Pretty much every electrical appliance I purchase is made in Asia. The prices dropped on all those things, too, and quality has improved. Right now, a lefty like me finally has access to all kinds of models at an affordable price. That was unheard of when I bought my first "cheap" guitar. Ahhhh, progress.

You can open the panel on the back of the guitar body and there you'll find the springs. You can make them looser here or if there's 3 you can remove the middle one.

The outer trem springs aut to be straight not angled in. Why is there a skunk stripe fitted when it looks like the fretboard is glued onto the neck, normally the truss rod is fitted then the fretboard ĝlued to the neck on that type.

You'll find a skunk stripe on lots of guitars with glues fingerboards, it helps make the neck more rigid and less effected by temperature and damp as the 2 woods expand and contract at different rates. The springs can be angled as it sometimes makes the tremolo more stable, but people who make the springs straight tend to do it just for looks, or because it's ready for 2 more springs. 😊

That's a very close race. The Squire is a very good guitar, but standard it has fewer features than the Donner (the Donner has a humbucker and a coil tap switch). But with the Squire pack you get a far better amp. So you can see it's very hard to judge. Honestly I don't know which is best for you. 🤔

The neck is narrow with matt finish with low well polished frets and as I said in the video a very low action (possibly too low).

@@LazKR Honestly, I can't answer that question accurately without knowing you better, but in general you can improve your chords at the same time as learning fingerstyle. You just need to know a few basic chords first and be able to play then reasonably cleanly . . . 😊😊

That's usually caused by a bad earth somewhere . . I cheap lead or holding the guitar too close to the amp. Lots of other things can cause it like neon lights. The first check is 'is it happening on all the pickups ?. If it is then the cause is probably outside the guitar. 🤔
