Alright guys I verbally flubbed calling panto-graphs diaphragms....I know they are panto-graphs I just had a brain fart. Apologies! I also said diesel loco once when I meant electric. I review very few electrics.

I have the 642 model! People told me Bachmann missed on a lot of detail here, but to me it’s a very awesome model and who cares what others think. The sound feature and light features with the DCC are phenomenal!

Bachmann has certainly up'ed their game here and this would match anything from the european manufacturer's. Very nice vid James. Checked trainworld and will have to wait till it's added to there www.

The switch on the bottom is for super modelers so they can run the engine via pantographs. Amazing.

Very impressive model, from the paint scheme detail. The sound is spot on from the MCB closing, compressor kicking in. And what that is in between the trucks is the transformer. For inquiring minds this motor is based off the Siemens Vectron. The diesel version is the Charger.

Just acquired this same loco. Very impressed. Does look a bit like the Siemens Taurus loco used in Germany & Austria. Pity the traction motors on the ACS 64 don't play the tune like their European cousins.

Awesome! When an SC44 model comes out, you should do a size comparison to another freight/passenger engine..in reality, those chargers are maybe 1 1/2 times bigger than your average GEVO or ACe, from what I've seen railfanning...

I have the Septa version - going around my tree it looks great. The engine was running fine up to a few days ago now it's all screwed up. The ditch lights are not working, the engine is not powering on when I power on the track. I think I may have screwed up the programming on the EZ-Command Any way to do a reset?

Siemens, pronounced C-Mons, is correct. I met a good looking woman from Germany at Disney World a few years back who said she worked for Siemens. My buddy made a crude comment about it and that's the end of her talking to us. I had to stop hanging around him if I wanted to meet the ladies. LOL! Nice review James. Great to see Bachmann stepping up their program. Now if we could talk them into using Kadee couplers instead of the crappy plastic Mach II couplers... Thanks! Cheers, Dan

I am new to the hobby so I don't get the purpose of the dual cab loco. I have been on the Heartland Flyer here in Oklahoma so I get the push pull concept with a loco at each end, you don't have to turn the train around. But what advantage does the dual cab have over that? Thanks and God Bless.
@MaxSupercars6 жыл бұрын
James the advantage is mostly for passenger service where you need just 1 loco to pull the whole train. Electric locos are very powerfull, this one got 8.600 HP. That's like 2 diesel locomotives. This locomotive got power but not so much tractive effort like heavy duty diesel locos. So for long freight trains where is also no electrification are used 2 or more locomotives where the first and last can be turned opposite so always one cab is heading to every direction. The loco at the terminal station is detached from coaches and drive around to the end and connect the coaches from the other side so no turntable is needed. This process happens by passenger trains more often (sometimes also 4-times a day) then by freight trains which travel more far distances. So it is very good to have 2 cabs. For Ex. the Florida Brightline High Speed train got 2 diesel engines each on the end of train so they are single cab variants alhought they are used for passenger service.

i'm surpsied Bachmann came out with the Septa version so soon! I think it was annoucned the day 901 arrived in Pennsylvania! The horn sounds a bit odd to me! the ACS64s have different-sounding K5LAs than that! The ACS64s are some really good-looking locomotives, and I'm glad Bachmann captured that correctly! I would like to see an ACS64 in Phase III!

TCS WOW and Bachmann are 2 names that really don't go together, however this actually looks like a really nice model. Every once in awhile Bachmann puts out nice stuff. I don't understand why this level of detail wasn't placed on their SD70Ace's, but Bachmann has always been inconsistent with such things, except for their steam, ON30 and G scale stuff.

these are not worth 220+. and they run like complete garbage on DC lines as many have reported. will get it half price in a few years off the bay or wait until bachmann unfucks themselves and makes a DC version. the roof is atrocious and the bogies.. dear god. look at the drop pan for the gears. ROCO and others have managed to get high bogie beam models perfect but bachmann is like nah son, lets drop that huge gear box between the rails. the 80 year old dumbasses will never notice!
