Hi Sam, I'm wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. I make jewellery and use fireline in the weaving, I purchased a thread zapper made by beadsmith, and have to say it was great for a while but after a month or two the wire at the end just wouldn't get hot enough to cut the line. I'm thinking of buying the Berkley line cutter, as it's basically the exact same thing. Could you tell me now that you've had this for a while, does it still perform just as well as when you first got it? Really don't want to waste money if I'm going to be in the same boat as the Thread Zap II that I brought. Thank you soooooooo much in advance, Linda

So what's better? This or the Tri-shear cutting tool?? I cut Braid at least 50 times a day on a days charter and am sick of dull cutters!!!!!!! No matter how well the manufacture says how sharp it is. They dull! I SAY THIS IS BETTER BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER THAN THE TRI-SHEAR

+Capt Daves Sportfishing Charters this is not durable enough , the tri shear as long you rinse it will last .. but I don't think its being made any more .. try the cuda double cutter pliers they are durable and reasonably priced ..

Those cuda pliers I think are expensive (I fish for a living, so I'm cheap!) I have a pair of "other brand" just like them with a life time warrenty. But I went with the berkley's, just ordered 3 off ebay for $26 with free shipping. I take care of my stuff, so three ought to last me awhile. The Tri-shear website is still up and the price has dropped from $99 to $69 I figure not as durable. But the price was right.
