I loved this film more than I ever imagined I'd ever love a biopic. It's the best!

on paper, this is absolutely a stupid and horrible idea. on screen IT WORKS!!! why did i tear up multiple times at a digital ape?? how did they pull this off?? planet of the apes movies, i understand, it makes sense. its their world, they are actually still apes. but an ape/human hybrid, absolutely should not work and is asking to be thrown into the uncanny valley, but somehow, someway, they pull it off. major props to the vfx team for making this work. i need my biopics with apes from now on lol. 9half/10.

It's a shame this movie is getting trashed online. The release time was pretty poor, so I don't think that helped in the box office. Just the online reception has been crazy negative towards it though, and it does not nearly deserve it tbh. I wasn't expecting it to be like it was. It wasn't even really a biopic, more like a Jukebox Musical following Robbie's life. I was expecting it to be more like a Bohemian Rhapsody ft. a Monkee type movie, but it actually reminded me a lot of when I saw MJ the Musical on stage. It felt like it was paced and directed in that sort of way more so than a traditional biopic movie.

It's not being trashed per se. Everyone who actually SEES it ends up really liking it. It's just the fact that it's such a box office bomb means it's getting mocked mercilessly. Nothing makes me sadder than when an actual original and entertaining story gets treated like this. Meanwhile reboots of things that already existed 30 years ago, and sequels of already big-name franchises get all of the attention.
