It's a good and ubiquitous kit, but I cannot build 100% accurate King Tigers as seen in "The Battle of the Bulge" (1965 film).

Maybe the M47 Patton - erm, I mean "Battle of the Bulge King Tigers", will come out at some stage...

A nice looking kit and a relief that it goes together without any fiddling. Seems they are much better at the plastics than just a year or so ago now.

I wouldn't exactly say without fiddling. The turret roof was fun and needed pegs to hold it. Still not happy with the end result. But not a bad build and a good kit to have!

Good review and the model looks pretty good. The problem is Battlefront's BS packaging scheme. Tank platoons for the US and client states were 4 tanks. Yet this box contains only 3 tanks. Which means you'd have to buy 4 boxes to get enough tanks so you don't have left overs. Oh, wait that's a company and typically an American tank company has a Captain and 1st Lieutenant as commander and XO. Both of whom command their own tank. So that's 14 tanks to a company.

It is an odd packaging size for the numbers you'll need.

It would honestly be nice to see the m48a2g2 in the West german forces in team yankee in the future perhaps. Its pretty much a heavily upgraded m48 with a 105mm

Yeah. The kit has parts for that, so should be on the cards at some point!

This is impassive! You have the option of three versions and the extra machine guns would really work out for a Vietnam M48. Thanks for sharing this review.

And Vietnam was the big conflict for these in US service - so nice to be able to make it.

Oh no! I've been sitting on some M48s from the 'Nam range for about a decade, and a year ago I decided I could probably turn them into South Korean M48A5s for Team Yankee since I have a variety of extra 105mm barrels. But it involves a gun swap the old metal/resin kits weren't designed for, so I put it off and put it off. Now that the new plastics include all the South Korean options by design... hard choices to make - do I just buy a dozen new plastic ones? :D

National Guard M48A5 for sure. Those extras like the M60/Abrams smoke launchers and the barrel sleeve seem tempting though... I might chuck them on anyway.

Great video as always, I really enjoy how you work in some background and history to each of your reviews! I am so happy we finally have this tank in plastic, but it's wild it took so long (and I think we have World of Tanks to thank!) to finally get one given it's wide usage. One conflict it got used in was was the Indo-Pakistan wars, where it faced off against the Centurion!
@FogofWar

Yeah. M48 fought in many theatres. It's a great kit to have in plastic - and now we can do a face-off with plastic Centurions too!

Loved the video @FogofWar! Can't wait for the next video man! The M48 Patton Kit looks really Great and the Inclusion of South Korean Standard Equipment seems to imply that we might be Getting some SEATO Action in the Future. SEATO is the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, Basically an Asiatic Counterpart to NATO. It was established in 1955 under the Eisenhower Administration to Protect many of America's Allies in the Region, Namely and more Notably South Korea and South Vietnam, and was Disbanded under the Carter Administration in 1977 (2 Years after The Fall of Saigon in April 1975). the Main Members of SEATO Pakistan, The Philippines, Thailand, France, Australia, The United Kingdom and the United States and the only Non-Member Protectorates were Cambodia (until 1956) and later the Khmer Republic (Between 1970 and 1975), Laos and as Mentioned earlier South Vietnam. Under Military Aid did Pakistan receive plenty of equipment from the United States, Most Notably the M47 Patton as well as Martin B-57B Canberra Jet Bombers (an American License Built Variant of the English Electric Canberra mostly used by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force). As I mentioned before, We might get to see the Chinese, North and South Koreans, The State of Japan and possibly even the Philippines in later Releases for at least Team Yankee, similar to the Red and Blue Dragons of the Video game "Wargame: Red Dragon" which was set in 1991 with the Korean War heating back up and North Korean Forces start pouring down the 38th Parallel. The Blue Dragons being America's Allies of South Korea, Taiwan, The Philippines and the State of Japan and the Blue Dragons being the Soviet Union's Allies of the People's Republic of China, North Korea and Vietnam. Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!
@FogofWar
@FogofWar Ай бұрын
I'm not sure we're going to get too much Asia in Team Yankee any time soon - but I've been very wrong before, so you never know. PS. I remember SEATO well.

I "built" and painted one resin/metal M48. The rein was great. The metal (tracks) wasn't. So I am very happy we've got these is plastic. Mine will be israeli Magach 3 tanks for 1967. Therefore the numbers of return rollers no problem to me because we all know that the IDF had many "Frankenstein"-tanks in this period of time still. Maybe I use some more parts to make my Magach 3s like that.
