In Andalusia, the Bavarian long-distance sports bike, the new BMW M 1000 XR, is put through its paces. Not on the race track, but on the country road - after all, it should also be able to tour. For me the sit position is perfect, but I changed from a Tuono. Last we week we did 4600 km in the Alps, no problem with the physics

I'd be very interested in (read: probably buy it) if it could take luggage. I love my S1000XR, but I absolutely need the luggage, even for a day long tour, it's a must have for me to carry clothes, something to eat, some tools, etc. Touring with any storage really stinks, you either have a heavy backpack or just "hope" nothing changes that much over the course of 5+ hours? I was certain to buy the M1000XR when I first heard of it in 2023, but now, February 2024, it is clear what this bike actually looks like and there are 5 things missing that I need, each missing item is a deal breaker to me: 1) Missing centre stand 2) Missing hand protectors for the grips 3) Missing intelligent emergency call 4) Missing auxiliary LED side lights 5) Missing brake-fluid reservoir on the handlebar that looks civilized All of these items I have on my current S1000XR M Package model 2022.

Looks nice but not once have I been on my current gen 2 XR (which is flashed and de-cat'ed) have I said I need more power. All that extra power on the M kicks in around 10-11k which is crazy for the street.

I also have a fully flashed and fully modded 23 XR. I was #2 on the list for an M1000XR at my local dealer, decided to do more track time so went a different direction and will keep the S1000XR.

It is also cheaper to do an RR top end/airbox/loom swap + some dyno time, with which you basically get 200 hp, and keep your comfort bits.

@@imc500 Not stolen. Their main channel is in German but they created this channel for English translations. It's low quality because unfortunately it seems they recorded the bike audio and German speech together so they couldn't easily replace with English speech.

the "basic" XR put your nuts right in the gas tank - virtually no ability to move back in the seat. This was supposed to be addressed in the M model - by viewing this video it looks like his nuts are still right in the gas tank. I wish just one of these M videos would talk about this issue. this is the only reason I am not ordering one.....

I've seen other people who have ordered the MXR fit the M high seat, it's higher at the front of the seat and stops falling into the tank, but then you have to deal with an extra 20mm of seat height to avoid the problem, not ideal.
