Very impressive and attractive looking fef class UP 4-8-4 model from BLI, hopefully in the future I will be able to obtain one of these models for myself once I have my 💰 $$ straightened out.

just got mine...weren't sure if the tender class lights were operational or not. the reviewer also points out a few missing details,but misses the biggest one...the big toolbox behind the "containment dam". it's on the present 844(look at the engine running with 4014 on youtube),but when i queried this on the sample with BLI,i was told"yes,we should PROBABLY have included that"! probably mind,on a $700 model.they already had the tooling for this detail,as it's on my 4014 & 3985 so there's NO excuse for missing this major detail

Does anybody know how prototypically accurate the pre-2013 (W/ Mars Light) #844 model is? Specifically the marker lights on the tender. I currently own the Athearn version and I'm thinking about picking up one of these but I'd rather not if it's less accurate.

This looks awesome! Why CAN'T the "O" Scale Models achieve the same ENGINE & TENDER "SPACE CLOSURE" or SPACE ELIMINATION, as the "HO" Scale? The SPACE or gap between the ENGINE & TENDER on many of the "O" Scale trains looks terrible. Especially for the money 💰 being paid for them.

Piping is for the feed water heater and injector. No such thing as as an exhaust cooler. The black part behind the whistle is not the safety valves. Those are the injector check valves. The safety valves are the brass items further back that you called double whistles. 844 only has one whistle.

The smoke stack could benefit from a diffuser to break up the laminar flow which looks like there's a cigarette in there. Not very convincing--and steam is only visible on cold days. In several videos, I notice that this loco doesn't start smoothly. it should be able to really crawl to avoid spilling soup in the dining car.

Any modelers know wether it's a cooperation with Märklin/Trix or not ?

I was told that BLI cooperated with trix to produce the model for the European market. So the Trix model uses the same tooling.

@@TheBNSFengineer explains why the Trix version also has smoking whistle. Funny enough, theirs seems to run better with ESU as Paragon 4 still has bad motor control. I hear too much hum from my 844 even with a light train or even running light w/o cars.

Anymore, reviews seem to just be glorified complaint videos. No wonder why the hobby is drying up, watching these videos makes anyone not want to by one given all the complaints. sheesh
