Kudos to the designers for daring to simulate such a controversial and often forgotten conflict. Learning about this war is an important lesson showing that Europe is still a fragile region where old scars could break open. As a pacifist(Still love wargames don´t get me wrong), I hope we European can evolve and games like this can help us understand the political and military tensions of the past. Excellent review.

Great review guys! Living in the Balkans, this war was certainly one the defining moments for the region and I would love to play it. But it's so difficult getting an opponent, let alone two (that's why I mainly solo) to really consider getting it. VASSAL is a solution sometimes!

Never played it with two players.With three players it is an amazing game. It deserves more attention than it currently has.

Great video thanks guys. I have this and can't wait to play it. I'd love to see you guys review some more Compass Games CDGs you mentioned, including Crusade and Revolution.

'backed by the Soviets' ... 1992-1995 on the box. Made me lol. Great review! I'm excited about this game. Three players, and a topic which really deserves approachable coverage. Thank you for all your great videos!

Great review. I just received my copy and I hope to try it soon. I read the rules and have been thinking about it already. The one thing I didn't hear you mention that seems very important is that you lose one point on the FA track when you capture a key space. This inflicts a cumulative penalty on the aggressive play that is required to win. It seems like cutting supply routes would also be very effective tactic in many ways. I'm still locked down so I just have my son to play with at home but I see this is up on Tabletop Simulator which I use to play many games with my brothers and some friends.

Cutting supply is VERRRRY effective, yes. Especially with how the board is set up. And in a 3 player game it'd be even easier to do to each other

Great game. I bought it for my girlfriend as a part of the Christmas gift and we had a blast 1v1. Now we are waiting to play it with one more player.

Thanks for the review, guys! I hope you'll find a third player - then you'll see some dealing and backstabbing, and experience another layer of this vicious conflict. Have fun and stay healthy! 😉

If you love card driven games, why haven't you played Paths of glory yet? It's an awesome game, by far my favorite, and I'd be curious what you guys think.
@smartmind232 жыл бұрын
I'm about getting my 2nd CDG after Hannibal, which I really enjoyed. I thought Paths of Glory was a classic that I had to try out. Now this seems very interesting too, and I prefer the topic. Besides being 2p resp. 3 players, how would you compare these games?
@ThePlayersAid2 жыл бұрын
You're almost always more likely to enjoy a game that you like the theme of, and B&U has that more flexible player count. But PoG is also incredible. Tough choice.
@tomh63393 жыл бұрын
Hi Alexander and Grant, I note that this is a 3 player game which is interesting. Do you have any recommendations for other multiplayer wargames?
@ThePlayersAid3 жыл бұрын
Check out the COIN series from GMT (any title that interests you). Space Empires 4X, Tank Duel, Wild Blue Yonder.
@tomh63393 жыл бұрын
@@ThePlayersAid Nice one, thanks! I'll check all those out. Maybe Space Empires is the most likely candidate as it has more hex appeal. I'd really like to find a genuine hex-and-counter multiplayer tactical wargame, basically a 4-player combat commander, but I haven't found anything yet.
@ThePlayersAid3 жыл бұрын
@@tomh6339 yeah that's probably a tough ask without house rules etc
@tomh63393 жыл бұрын
@@ThePlayersAid I don't mean literally a 4-player combat commander, but just a medium complexity wargame similar to combat commander but for more than two players. Anyway the search continues, and thanks again for the recommendations! I will definitely check them out.

@@Obalcan As a slovenian, I am a bit annoyed Slovenians are not a faction in the game - they could just be a flavour merchant "ai faction" dealing and reselling weapons into the embargo zone at ridiculous prices. And sometimes just takin' the money not even delivering the weapons. That'd be fun. ;)
