You missed out on clicking on the size chart, available next to the size options for each pattern. A size 18 is an 40in bust (B-cup), 32in waist, and 42in hip, so smaller than an 18 for the other big 4 companies.

Glad you're reviewing this collection. I used to make the real German burda patterns without seam allowances in the 80s. Those patterns were really funky styles. These are disappointingly basic and seem aimed specifically at the American market. I bought the jacket with the sunburst seaming. That one is unique.

Lots of cool stuff here, especially the jackets and the black and white dress. I have nowhere to wear them but they're beautiful. Thanks sew much for another excellent video.

Best collection of all the others pattern companies. I think I might buy a couple of patterns. None of the other big companies has this great of a collection. Thank you so much for doing these first impressions I’m always talking back to you like u can hear me lol. I try never to miss any of your videos. Give those adorable puppies a extra hug for being so good today.🧵🪡

Lindsey, Thank you for all your videos! Décolleté: try this Day-Cole-tay (French word for your neckline)

I need to remember your phonic spell out. I can totally say day-cole-tay! Haha!

I think loden is a type of wool fabric. I liked the dress with the 2 very different looks. I also like the dress shacket pattern, that could be very versatile and would be very chic in a tencel twill.

The color combinations like the bow shirt are Analogous which are adjacent to each other on the color wheel. I really liked a a few of these patterns, thanks.

I love the sailor style pants with the back zip. As usual your commentary made me laugh. I had just poured a glass of wine when I sat down to watch and thought "I'm going to play a little drinking game and drink every time you mention wearing it to target." Alas you didn't mention target once. 🤣 By the way, I got my calendar and it's even better than I expected. Great job!

These made me think of my 1968 home economics sewing classes in jr high and high school. Most of them were really missing something for me. Most of them were shapeless and the fabrics were real snoozers. I wonder what is going on with these pattern companies.

On the first day of school children in Germany are gifted a school cone. Filled with sweets, school supplies and small gifts.🖇✏️🍫I liked the outer wear too but would never make it. So much work and opportunities to mess it up. 😬😉🤣

I love the jacket #6022. Lots of good here. German children get a "school cone" on the first day of school, full of goodies.

Loden fabric is a wool coating. Love Burda patterns, the block fits me well. They are very fashion forward, with interedting detsils and style lines.. All these patterns have previously been in burda magazine and burda easy. Don't be put off tracing the patterns, it's very easy. The mags dont include a stretch guide. Latest mags now include slightly more detailed instructions. The mags are fantastic value.

Thanks for the review! I seldom look at their patterns as the ones that have some waist definition or style are reserved for those who haven't any large hip to waist definition-it isn't very often I see something that I would actually make and wear in my size range! I do not like the idea of having to make so many pattern alterations just to get the "look"-when so many other company's do so without that being necessary.

Hi Lindsey: Thank you for this review of Burda. I see similar styles this summer. By the way, I want to urge you, once again, to use McCall's M8084. It is so cute! I surprise myself and I am cutting the second version in the morning. I love this and you would be cuter than cute in version A, B, or C. Thank you, again. ~ L

Had to chuckle at the "soccer mom trying to look cool" woven inset jersey T-shirt! I sent the video link to my neighbor who (whilst picking up another neighbor's prescription) was super excited to have "scored" 4 of the *exact same* T's at Walmart on the clearance rack for $3.00 each. She says they will be "perfect for gardening," but, "why would *anyone wear this out in public?"

Burda has very typical clothes of the Danes.I think they joined Germany. Clothing is typical of the area. They tend to dress more formally.
@sueknutson96642 жыл бұрын
Apparently “Loden” means masculine so maybe they are suggesting a plaid, houndstooth or something similar for that jacket/ coat pattern. Some of the patterns are really nice with nice details but their choice of colors or prints leaves a lot to be desired and distracts from the really nice design of the patterns.

Décolleté, pronounced "day-col-tey" (more or less), just means deep neckline in French. Burda patterns never really appealed to me until I see someone's version and I have second thoughts. I feel that they always look super roomy and the instructions overly complicated to follow while the construction is super simple..
@602redroses2 жыл бұрын
I like many of these. i don't believe we have them at my Joann's.

Awful! Burda went to the dogs long ago. I miss the gorgeous European designer patterns all of the pattern companies used to release every summer. We also had great fabric stores and never ran out of couture-class party clothes.

This was a frustrating experience, as you were not prepared at all. If you would consider doing an opening description with a short explanation of Burda patterns past and present, (ie., seam allowance and typical pattern envelope info), it would have been helpful and easier to listen to. Perhaps you could stop the tape and Google words you aren't familiar with, rather that winging the description. I lasted only 12 minutes and this was information I really wanted, so I am frankly, disappointed.

These are a first impressions review where the questions that come up in my mind are relevant to questions others might have as well. I’m not trying to be an expert in these videos, rather share my experience in viewing the patterns for the first time.
@jacquelinecranston56222 жыл бұрын
@@InsidetheHem I understand that, but I know you ARE an expert, as you do this professionally. I also know you can do a better job, because you are a capable person and in fact, have done better on other pattern reviews. My impression was that you could have been better prepared. That's all, not trying to create any ill will, just giving you feedback.
