REVIEW: Carl ZEISS Batis FE 25mm f/2 Distagon (Sony E-Mount) + Sony a7

2024 and I am finally getting my hands on this lens. Arrives tomorrow. In today's market, is $500 for this lens (like-new condition) worth it, Professor?

My wife is about to start a beauty /talking head KZbin channel! Which lens would you recommend for that between the Zeiss 25 mm F2 or The Zeiss 24 mm 1.8? Also is the bokeh from the 1.8 vs the F 2 any major difference? We just purchased a Sony a 6300 camera!

The difference there will be the 24mm being an APS-C lens. Normally I'd say go that route if you'd want to save some money, but those two are almost identical in price, so in that regards I'd go with the Batis 25mm. The advantage to the Batis is that it's a full frame lens and will be sharper on the a6300, because of that (it's utilizing the center area of the lens, which is it's sharpest). Bokeh wise, you're not going to notice much difference, if at all at only 1/3 of a stop difference. If it helps, watch my Sensor Cleaning video that's on here, which is one of my most recent videos. In that video the clip at the beginning of me speaking is shot with that very lens, the Batis 25mm and it's at f/2 and shot with the a6400. That will give you a good example of that lens on a camera essentially identical to yours. Hope this helps! =)
