Review: Cedar Mill Discreet Concealment Guitar Rifle Case vs. Savior Ultimate Guitar Case

I can definitely see how some folks would prefer a discrete shipping box... expecially when the box might reveal that there are guns in the home. I like everyone I've met from Savior... good people. I like the concept for the Savior hard guitar case with the wheels and handle. However, if I'm trying to be discrete, then the savior case doesn't look like any of the dozen or so actual guitar cases that I have owned. I've known Cedar Mill for several years and like them as well. Also good people. I got one of the Cedar Mill cases and I have to store it in a different room from my actual guitar cases. Else, I mix them up. I believe it is an actual guitar case that has the pick and pluck foam added. If your goal is to discretely transport your guns, then the real guitar case is likely a better option. If you are checking your guns on a flight, then the rolling case will likely work better.

Was out of town and a neighbor had saved my package for me but suspected it was a rifle in there. Was a great guy to do that for me but man after that I needed something more discreet.

Thank you for the review! You helped me make my choice. For just wanting to take my rifle from the house to the range……I chose the Cedar Mills that is a guitar case that hold a rifle. I don’t need wheels…..but if I was flying….I see why that would be attractive! Thanks for the great review!

I like that your guitar case actually looks like a guitar case, including the latches. I like Savior Equipment's guitar case, but it's kind of obvious that it's not a guitar in there. And I didn't see it in your video, but even "discreet" gun cases made by Savior have their name on it somewhere, so anyone who knows guns will know what's really inside. I also prefer the pick-and-pluck foam for ease of use.

Cedar may look like a real case but it has the same security problem as the Savior. There isn't a lock at the base. Even when the case is locked the bottom can be brute forced open & your hand can go in & grab what's in reach, usually the butt of the stock. I really like the Cedar case just for the foam alone but its time for a Mk.II that should add: -Foldable wheels at the base, retractable handle the head -a foldover the top hinge Lock at the base,if stood on end (at the 6 o'clock spot so the case doesn't sat directly on it) -Get rid of the cosmetic lock latch & add a real latch -move the 7 o'clock latch to 8 & make THAT a REAL lock with screws on the inside. -a latch on the hinge side of the neck -Some sort of backback straps in case you have to have the case longer than anticipated, carrying loaded mags,the tool(s) it/themselves & miscellaneous gadgets gets tiring for the common person. Right now if Savior were to switch padding to similar as yours & added an extra security measure then they would get more orders. Remember this a case to carry a tool that can do great harm & i feel like you guys are just going about it lackadaisically when it comes to security & making sure someone who isn't supposed to get in there, doesnt,at least not swiftly. Do this & add another $50 to sticker price... it's really not more expensive I can get the materials from the local hardware store for probably $30. Just my 2¢.

Also Savior's is TSA approved. But in the end, you're 100% right and I agree. Cedar Mill's case is a guitar case that can carry a rifle. Savior is a rifle case that happens to be shaped like a guitar case.
