I just discovered this brand and I prefer the red label too. I find that it smells more fragrant (which I am in love with) than the gold label. The red label also has a bright note to the taste quite similar to the Sabah Tea brand. It makes for the perfect ice tea drink! The gold has a deeper note which I appreciate when I drink it hot instead of cold - great for cold winter days.

I was told by a ChaTruMue shop that the Red was used for Cha Manao & the Gold for Cha Num Yen (Thai Milk Tea)

I loved this comparison video! Because, you'd think that the Gold would be better quality and taste... I usually do mine the slow brew style: bring 4 cups of water to boil in a pot. Once the water boils, turn the burner off, then in the sock, put one cup of mix and float it in the pot. Allow to steep for 15 minutes... then remove the sock, and add sweetener to the tea. However, I like the method that you use, like Gong Fu (pour over) style! I'm sure this will become my newest method. However, in the US, I'm finding that I will probably end up adding more water to tea since we use cups instead of ml. I know that 200ml is less than 1 cup of water, however... I just made my Green one (for the first time) with two table spoons of mix to 2 cups of water, and it was still strong for me. Almost bitter, because I did the squeezing method.

Hi! Thank you for this video. I always look forward to watching your video. May i ask if the taste will be different if you poured the tea 5x then let it sit for hours...🤔☺️☺️

Without the tea finings? Yes, that would make it stronger and perfectly fine to keep refrigerated for up to 7 days.

The real question is: what is the difference in the ingredients?
@rizasri
@rizasri Жыл бұрын
Fair enough. The gold has 1% less sugar and 1% more tea. Marginally different really but there is a difference in taste.

It's amazing how fast and how much things have increased in prices since 2022, As of this post in July 2023 this tea was $16 Canadian. I still ordered 2 bags, LOL.

Oh my goodness heaven. Trying your recipe right when you about to put some ice, have no milk but condensed milk only (so just mix around 50ml of hot water with 20 gram of condensed milk), and I am ended up using two tablespoons more of sugar thanks for my short-term memory. Drink it when warm without any ice, ended up being too filled only to see my mistake and the next part why we must adding ice on it.... Now I'm feel so bloated because I drink this after lunch ouff

Is it true that it's just food coloring for the color ?

It is mostly colored from sunset yellow. A food color that is banned in a lot of countries. It's trying to mimic the color of ceylon tea but it is much more vibrant.

Instead of a pouring method can we boil the tea?
@Krisstofers
@Krisstofers 6 ай бұрын
I have. Except, I recommend not boiling it, because it will taste very bitter. I used to put the mix directly into the pot, and boiling the tea for 15 minutes. I prefer the sock, because having to sieve it out later is harder (you have more residue/sediment in the solution that is to be used). When you use the sock, there's really no residue/sediment at the bottom of your "working tea" (the tea that you are going to serve).

Why so much ice??
@PhotopassAdri
@PhotopassAdri Жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video? A regular lipton teabag is only 2 grams. She's using 14 grams. Also, Thailand is pretty hot year round, that ice will probably melt in 5 minutes. If it isn't diluted, it usually doesn't taste like thai milk tea. If you don't like the idea of using that much ice, you can always use less tea (I do this because I have a 2 liter container in my fridge for just the tea and I add milk and condensed milk when I want milk tea).
@CyberMachine
@CyberMachine Жыл бұрын
Thai drinks are like 70% ice. This is why I never upgrade to the bigger size cups because they just use the space for more ice. Also Thai people LOVE it super sweet. The tea dilutes to be bearable to drink.
