You did this review quite a while ago, but I want to let you know I enjoyed it so much. Such a great explanation of the chypre structure. Yes, 31 Rue Cambon is one of my favorites as well.

I currently own the following Exclusifs: Bois des Iles, 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel, and Cuir de Russie. They are all ASTOUNDING. I also own, Egoiste, No. 5, No. 19, Antaeus, Coco Noir, Egoiste Cologne Concentree and Platinum Egoiste. They are all beautiful, esp. the Exclucifs, perfection IMHO.

Well sillage and projection are linked, so that's why I mix them. They're not independent phenomena. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, and as I mentioned in the video, Rue Cambon leaves a trail behind me, i.e. it leaves a scent cloud behind me. But either is a description of a particular aspect of the way a perfume diffuses off the skin into the air around you. Related phenomena which I deal with as linked in the video while mentioning them individually. :)

You're far too kind, and I'm incredibly pleased you enjoy my reviews so much :) I can see how Rue Cambon might not always sit right with some people sometimes. It has a certain mood, and if your own personal state of mind doesn't align with Rue Cambon's mood then it would be hard to wear it comfortably.

I do love Dzongka! I had a 10ml sample years ago, but then the only shop that sold L'Artisan here closed so I was never able to buy a full bottle. Thank you for all the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the review. :) I don't know if I see a direct comparison between 31 Rue Cambon and Cuir de Russie. but if you look back through my videos you'll see I did a video called Battle of the Leathers where I compared CdR against a bunch of other well known leathers. I LOVE CdR :)

Oh gosh! I wish you hadn't done that! I always feel terrible when people tell me they've blind bought things because I said good thing about them! I really hope you like it (but in future just be aware I strongly recommend testing before buying!). You're right, the Les Exclusifs only come in either 200ml or 75ml. They're actually good value though, Frederic Malle is about 10 or 20 euro more for 50ml so it's swings and roundabouts :P

Excellent. "More than a bubble and less than a cloud." Haha. One of my favorites, very niftily constructed, androgynous in nature. Somewhat peppery, evokes a rainy Parisian day and is stylishly casual rather than formal to me. (Guerlain's recent Myrrh & Delires has a phase that clearly refers to Rue Cambon and is in terms of style a close relative, I'd say). I bought a honker bottle early on: it has always had great longevity on me, comparable to Coromandel. I agree, Polge is a genius!

I have bought Shalimar on your (collection video) recommendation and Im loving it. What do you find to be the best temperature to wear it? Im always confused with these orientals. Thanks. ;)

Thanks Raj! Yeah, to me it's one of the pinnacles of perfumery as a range, I think I prefer it to Serge Lutens easily. Coromandel and Bois des Iles are gorgeous, I'll try to get my BdI review up next week.

I loved it, no worries! A very nice woody slightly earthy scent. A good departure from all the cocoa gourmands out there :) I'm thinking also that this would be an awesome scent for layering. You have any suggestions for me?

Thank you :) Of course I agree with you about it being stylishly casual, but I think one has to have a certain attitude to style to feel that comfortable wearing almost anything by Chanel casually. I wear it for all occasions and situations myself, but I can see others finding it a little too classical for that. I'm delighted someone else gets good longevity from it too! And I thought the same thing about Myrrh et Delires myself, how funny! :)

i sort of blind ordered chanel sycamore based on your praise on the terre d'hermes edp thread (i think, it was actually your eau sauvage thread, if i'm not mistaken). anyway, had a friend going to paris and begged him to pick it up there. to cut a long story short, i liked it very much. my only peeve is the bottle size, les exclusives come in 2.5 oz size, nothing less is on offer. i try ntto buy more than 1.7 oz of anything.

Hmmm, not really I'm afraid, I'm not much of a layerer unfortunately, but at a guess anything with some sharp and light citrus might work, maybe anything with Mandarin or Yuzu or Lemon/Lemon Leaf....

I can't speak for anyone else in this, but really that's the complete opposite of my experience, like I say it's possible Chanel have adjusted the strength of the concentration but it always lasts very well on me, and has excellent sillage and projection.

It actually lasts longer on paper or clothing just a bit than on skin. But the overall experience lasts for 2-3 hours, very close to skin

The problem is that most online retailers don't ship to Russia. Of the ones that I know of only strawberrynet does, and I've been burnt by them. Once beaten, twice shy, you know. But the point is, all those frags we're on the shelves, lidge and such, a month ago, and now poof, they are all gone, and the SA's tell me they won't be back. If it's happened in Russia, you might wanna check your stores and stock up on your essentials, cause chances are Russia will not be the end of it

Gosh it depends (I could say like exactly 18 degrees Celsius I suppose, to be silly :P) for me Shalimar works best in the autumn and winter, but I also wear it on cooler evenings in the spring and summer (we don't have hot summers here though so....). Trial and error will sort it out for you though I'm sure ;)

Oh there's no Shalimar for men... there's just Shalimar (and it's flankers). You could always try online retailers for the fragrances you're looking for, you'll probably be able to get a better price for them too :)

Btw, been looking for shalimar for men in Russia, and couldn't find it. And while i'm at it, 've been to the stores earlier today, and didn't see lidge on the shelves. L'instant edt either, for that matter. Ditto for opium pour homme, live jazz, and rive gauche from ysl, gone. Eau savage from Dior (the new formula) is no longer available either. I've checked all the big chains here in Russia, with the same dismal results. Is anyone else seeing the same mass withdrawal from sale of classic fra
