Thanks for posting this. I have been tasked by the family to burn a burn a barn into a blank wooden ornament for this year's Christmas tree ornament. We bought this exact same Walnut Hollow woodburner at Hobby Lobby. Before even taking it out of its package I thought I would get an idea how to use it. I simply searched "walnut hollow wood burning" and your video came up first. You gave me a lot of pointers on how each tip will burn and pointers on using the tool itself. So that's helpful. I wanted to post a comment because you mentioned a few times in the video that the viewers should post their opinion - and nine months later nobody has so far. So that's my opinion without even having used the tool. But again, thanks for the pointers. So I better go try it out!

I was given this pen to try fr my first time ever burning! I Came on here cause I was gonna jus wing it cause that's what I do, and I find this a very helpful video. I am happy I came on here first. ☺ I hit the subscribe too girl! Since I've hit 30 years old mu creative side has come out so I've been expanding my knowledge as much as I can on these awesome things we can do if we just open our minds a little. This wood burner is good for beginners, however it gets very hot. Where the grip lines are, it is super hot to hold. I need something to put over it just to hold on to it. I wish it was a bit slimmer where they have the grip lines.

Thanks for the video! It would have been a great tool for me but I'm returning it to MIchael's because I paid $30 CAD and it burns my fingers after 1/2 hour of use, and it doesn't get better. Mine is defective.

Definitely sounds defective! My handle gets hot, and since it's an economy priced model I could see after a few years the product not working as well and getting too hot to hold. But straight out of the packaging? Not good. Hope you're able to swap for a working one!

I don't see why not! Of course, as with buying any used product, be sure to do your research and make sure you know what you are getting. If anything feels off, or you find a deal that's too good to be true, don't buy it. But as long as it's in good working order, I don't see why you couldn't buy a used one and still get great results.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you are asking about! The woodburner comes with a metal folding stand to rest it on while it warms up so it doesn't burn your work surface. Is that what you are wondering about?

Hi Carol - by chance, did you get a different model similar to this? The reason I ask, is I have one very similar to this (Creative Hobby Tool - burgundy handle) that came with what I "thought" was a spring, until I read the instructions and found out that it was actually SOLDER. I bought mine forever ago, and just wanted to jump in and respond, in case you have one similar to mine.
