Just an FYI, the Drua made the quarter finals in only their 2nd season....they havent progressed further. There was an earlier version of the Drua playing in the Aus NRC who won it on multiple occasions.

Folks that were debating for Volavola, just think back and realise that Fiji has not progressed much in his presence tbh. Kicking is great, but what about other aspects? Volavola often looks to shy away from tackles unless he is desperately chasing the opponent. Look at Muntz, the lad has been tackling, building up play and also just really fine-tuned his boots accuracy. If only Tela can wind back the clock to how he had been over 2 years ago, then we'd have a balanced fly-half back-up. It's good to see Tela going to the RWC and all hopes and support to the man to be a impact player when the time calls for it. Otherwise, Ravula ain't too young...lot of players have been young breakthrough performers... Long story short, they've been lots of contendors for the Flying Fijians jersey...it is the travelling squad's chance to shine.

@Wildkard okay so...result wasn't what we hoped for but hear me out. You guys played the form team of the Tournament on their home ground. Yes you lost and played incredibly poorly but the scoreboard was a little deceiving. The Wallabies confirmed what I've been saying for MONTHS! France is only good on the front foot and they have a shit pack of forwards. The gameplan by the Wallabies was WAY off, instead of slowing the game the Wallabies played expansive rugby and played right into the French hands. You guys got 4 or 5 scrum penalties...I don't understand why the captain didn't ask for continuous scrum resets instead of kicking for lineouts where your throw would be more competitive. Go for scrum resets, force one or two more penalties and perhaps get a French player of two sent off. They could have had the french in so much trouble have they done that. The Australian breakaway tries also showed what we all expected, the french defense is NOT great. I called it before the tournament started when I said that both Ireland and France are riding a false wave of form, a form they got mostly by playing NH teams. Fiji beating England and Samoa nearly shocking Ireland showed this... SH plays a different style, a different brand. Wallabies can only get better mate, don't worry about it yet! 😀

Tier 1 is based on money & how professional a national team's business structure is. Tier 1 players who rep their nations are fulltime "employed" by their national rugby organization paid upper 5 to 6 even 7 figures. Fiji dont have that structure and certainly NOT the money.

I think this is correct. The great players they had in 2019 are now either off form, injured or past their best. Coupled with that Fiji were fitter, stronger and indeed more athletic. It might well be the case that they are still tired from a heavy conditioning phase and when they have tapered they will be in better shape but you could potentially apply such an excuse to all the teams including Fiji.
