REVIEW: GX PUMP CS3 PCP Air Compressor (3000-4500)

I just bought a CS3-i after my cheap Amazon compressor gave up 3 weeks out of warranty. The CS3 (and the CS2, which uses the same compressor) is a vastly superior design. The cheap compressors you see for $200 are really only useful for guns with built in reservoirs because they will burn up if you try to fill bottles. I did not know this when I bought the cheap compressor, but I should have never let it run more than maybe 5 minutes at a time. I believe that running it 10 minutes or so at a time caused the compressor to burn seals. The CS3 (and I would think the same for the CS2 since it uses the same compressor) is quite robust, and if you should need to replace the piston seals, it is very easy to do so. It fills my Maverick 400cc tank from 150 bar to 230 bar far faster than the cheap compressor could do, and I don't worry about it burning up.

Yeah, I am a huge huge fan of this machine. I would never try and run it for 10 minutes. Probably five maximum and then let it cool down. It's insane how hot they get.

I’m new to PCP. I purchased this compressor and a 68 cu.ft tank. I’m filling the new tank now. Any idea how long it might take, and should I let the compressor cool every thirty minutes or an hour?

Can it fill a 48cu 4500psi paintball tank? And how long would you expect it to take? Must I buy any extra attachment to begin filling? Sorry for the bombardment of questions but thanks in advance if you can help!

Sure it could fill a tank of that size. How long would it take is hard for me to say because I've never filled one that large but I would imagine less than a few minutes at the absolute max.

@@Abu-Suhaib 10 minutes as far less than the time it would take for you to drive to a paintball shop or a scuba shop to fill up your tank, and it’s gonna cost you 20 bucks every time you do it. Me personally, I have about a dozen tanks. When I’m cleaning my house, I put the tanks on my compressor and fill them up while I’m doing other stuff. Then I shoot forever. And then I repeat that process. 10 minutes is nothing. It’s pretty amazing that we even are at a point where you can have a 4500 psi compressor in your home that is this compact… That actually works.

Mine has lost 40% of its speed and really sounds horrible right now. Guessing the pistons need replacing? Any ideas?

it looks like he has the filter on the side of the compressor. from my understanding, one wants the filter on the gun side.

I added a 300mm tube filter, cotton then Indicating Silica in same tube. Front of tube collects water here in southern climes after 15 minute run!
