Really useful video - it's a great idea to show how the Console 1 operates in practice, and off the back of this video I have ordered a Console 1 and fader combo, and am going to finally go to working in-the-box. I'm still going to keep my large format analogue console, but that's going to be for specific projects or just for tracking through the preamps/EQ, rather than being the hub of my setup. In reality, I could replace it with some nice preamps and EQs and save a ton of space, but I'm sentimental about these things. That's another reason I like the Console 1 - I'm an old-fashioned analogue guy, and I just can't get excited about these modern looking LED strewn bits of kit that look like they are straight from some kitsch old sci-fi B-movie. I love the styling and the vibe of the Console 1, it will fit right in with my setup. Thanks for such a helpful video - and I love the song as well!

Great demo, did you ever get a second Console Fader? I'd love to see how that all improves the workflow and how easy you find keeping track of the two banks of faders

Thanks for the demo of this in a mix scenario. The iPad solution looks good, and a step forward for using the Farder in small sessions. But not sure if the iPad would be suitable for larger sessions with 20+ tracks. You would still have to do a bit of orientation in your head and then on the iPad to bank left or right to locate the track you want to work on. Saying all that, I think with the DAW's that have the deeper integration, mainly automatic track following (both ways), you can more easily use your monitor and your mouse for the track navigation and selection. I.e. use you monitor, eyes and mouse to quickly scroll up/down or left-right (dependent on DAW window) to locate and select the track you want to work on and then once selected you know that track is also selected in Console 1 & Fader. This kind of how I work with Console 1 right now, but with Logic and 2 X Touch's... except of course Logic doesn't do the track follow with C1 and the X Touch has a scribble strip.

i just ordered the Fader, now watching some videos in anticipation: The only thing that confuses me is the omission of a RECORD button. The transport controls are there (and mappable) but a red LED status-indicator would have rounded things off. Also a tiny LCD with playhead/time info would have been nice (and not taking much real estate). I am going to use this in my jam setup for quick adjustments during production and record/undo is a common task for me. I fear that with all these expensive controls i am still short one important function.

Shame that you have to use a separate iPad to know what is going on, defeats the whole concept of a master controller IMO.

You really don't. That's what the floating Console 1 Display is for. You can choose to manually show/hide it or set it to auto-hide after a selectable number of seconds after touching the Fader/Console 1. Also you can switch the Console 1 Display to various Display modes, including the minimal Meter Bridge style - that way you still see most of your DAW + Console 1 metering and track names/track selection.

a mouse and a laptop would be faster and more pro? u can see better...since all the producers work with trackballs / trackpads...they dont use the home recording gear like that ones ...I never seen it... maybe somebody with bad eyes can work better like that... but you got all these windows...those plastic hardware sitting there ...when u can just go into a pro app like Logic and Pro tools, work them plugins be done in 5 seconds... aint nobody got time for that

I really love working with the console 1. My workflow is so much faster and my mixes honestly sounds much better. I only care about what sounds the best in the end and getting there fast is even better and I work much more intuitive. I prefer working with the idea of working on a 'console' than waisting time browsing through hundreds of plug-ins on a laptop. Cheers

@@RosensMediaTV that is what I be thinking, but the problem is that a large trackpad gets me to channels so much easier - as I can turn and twist with hand movements...that Console 1 only has 8 faders , and you dont know where u are, they have no digital read out... I think that concept is great, but it is not like an actual console - that is my concern...
@RosensMediaTV
@RosensMediaTV 3 жыл бұрын
@@macreviewz7187 Thats true and I feel you. Still, If I could afford any of those ssl 4000 k /9000 k/Neves etc and to rent a space big enough and with the maintenance and experience acquired to maintain them it would be great! This just seem to me the easiest and sonically the most satisfying solution to get that sound.The 'fader' has 10 faders I believe and you would have to work in a certain workflow for sure to easily find your way in this system (I only have the Console 1, not the 'fader'. I guess it might be a question if you'd like to embrace a new workflow (with your own mixing templates etc) or if it's too much work and you are happy the way your current set-up is... I read an interesting article a while back from a guy who tries to work with the mindset of working with 24 tracks only (having the 24 track tape machine in mind I guess). Seeing the limits as an advantage, putting more effort to every detail that goes on to each and every of those tracks when it comes to arrangement, performance etc). To me it's an interesting perspective. My simplest productions more often than not sounds better than the complex ones. Have a good one! /Mike
